Knoxville History Project: A Literary Brown Bag

Category: Free event, History, heritage and Literature, spoken word, writing

Tuesday, December 6 at Noon at Lawson McGhee Library, 500 W. Church Avenue

Join us as we partner with Knox County Public Library for a lunchtime lecture by Jack Neely at downtown’s Lawson McGhee Library showcasing KHP’s latest publication, Knoxville: A Walking Literary Guide. The 32-page illustrated booklet highlights Knoxville’s role in national literature by emphasizing sites associated with writers well-known enough to be recognizable by the American reading public. The guide also serves as an introduction to the Knoxville-based work of these authors, including James Agee, Cormac McCarthy, Frances Hodgson Burnett, Alex Haley, Nikki Giovanni and numerous others.

Friends of Knox County Public Library were among the sponsors who provided funding for this free booklet.

Free program.
