Museum of Appalachia: Special Grandparents Day Discount

UT School of Music: Faculty Chamber Series "Music of the Ages"
The UT School of Music proudly presents the first of three concerts in our Faculty Chamber Music Series: Music of the Ages—An Age of Elegance on Sunday, September 13 in the James R. Cox Auditorium located in the UT Alumni Memorial Building. Join the performers for light refreshments and enjoy the music of UT student chamber ensembles beginning at 3:00 p.m. The faculty concert begins at 4:00 p.m. The concert and reception are free of charge; no tickets are required. The three concerts in the series are: September 13, 2009 - "An Age of Elegance", featuring works by Mozart, Bach, and Victor Ewald ; November 15, 2009 - "An Age of Revolution", featuring works by Shostakovich, Brahms, and Messiaen; and February 4, 2010 - "An Age of Enlightenment", featuring works by Telemann, Mark Harrell, Puccini, and Malcolm Arnold. This is a fabulous opportunity to enjoy performances by world-class musicians, and get to know the faculty of the UT School of Music. The Alumni Memorial Building is located at 1408 Middle Drive on the campus of the University of Tennessee, near the north end of Neyland Stadium. Sequoyah Birthplace Museum & Fort Loudoun State Historic Area: Great Island Festival
Admission is $5.00 per person. Children 12 and under are FREE. The festival is held in conjunction with Ft. Loudoun State Historic Area's 18th Century Trade Faire as the "Great Island" Festival. At Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, visitors can experience Tribal foods, arts and crafts demonstrations, music and dance, Cherokee encampments featuring time periods of the 1400's, 1700's, 1800's, 1900's, and up to the 20th century. Special entertainment will be provided by Native American artists and storytellers. Also on Saturday David Haggerty of the Tennessee State Parks will be here with the Birds of Prey. Come see Bill Landry of the Heartland Series doing a presentation on 18th Century Naturalist William Bartram on Saturday and Sunday. Free Cherokee name cards will be available for children 12 and under. Food and craft vendors will also be available.
