Calendar of Events

The Last Friday Art Walk is a recurring event to celebrate the arts on the last Friday of every month in Downtown Maryville. What's unique about it is that it's not just galleries participating. It's also businesses like bars, retail stores, restaurants, theaters, and coffee shops. Each participating business hosts a featured artist, this includes all disciplines of art; visual artists, performance artists, actors, writers, dancers, musicians, etc. New artists and new art are required each month, which gives the community a new experience each time they come.

2009-2010 Moxley Carmichael Masterworks series: The first half of the concert presents music written about the American South. Upon Maestro Richman's personal request, John Williams is, for the first time, making his Suite from "The Reivers" available for live performance. Samuel Barber's landmark work Knoxville: Summer of 1915 sets the Prologue from James Agee's A Death in the Family in a powerful and poignant soliloquy for soprano and orchestra; this performance will feature local soprano, Jami Rogers. The performance of The American Scene: The South by African-American composer, William Grant Still, will be a local premiere. The evening will conclude with Modest Mussorgsky's triumphant Pictures at an Exhibition in the orchestration by Maurice Ravel.
