Bijou Theatre: Abigail Washburn and The Wood Brothers
Category: Music
Abigail Washburn is a one-of-a kind artist whose distinctive style is rooted in her love of two seemingly unrelated worlds: Appalachian folk music and Chinese culture. Washburn has performed internationally and recorded both solo and with The Sparrow Quartet. Abigail most recently released her new album, City of Refuge, an effort that finds her expanding her palette by mixing old time sounds with a playful indie pop sensibility.
Joining this double bill will be The Wood Brothers. Oliver and Chris Wood (of Medeski, Martin & Wood). The Wood Brothers have reunited and begun a collaboration that combines their shared childhood influences with everything they've learned since leaving home. Their music has a rootsy feel that blends blues, folk, and rock music in a guitar/bass duo.
