Category: Classes, workshops, Kids, family and Theatre

CTK has incorporated an academy approach to our popular classes in creative dramatics, allowing us to offer a broader scope of curriculum, provide more
individualized instruction with smaller classes, and involve as many creative children as possible.

Classes are structured into 3 levels of activity, with each level being a pre-requisite to the following level.

Each class meets for a 6-week term. The cost of the 6-week term is $180. 50% of the term fee is due upon registration, wth the balance due on the first day of class.
All classes now take place at our classroom space at 15 EMORY PLACE.

Pre-registration is REQUIRED for all classes. To begin the registration process, e-mail Caroline King at caroline@childrenstheatreknoxville.com . Or call her (865) 712-8626.

March 23 will mark the opening night of another world premiere by regional playwright Lisa Soland. This time she also sits in the director’s chair, directing Pellissippi State students alongside other local actors in her new series of one-acts called The Ladder Plays, in which the playwright explores the ups and downs of being human.

Lisa Soland’s world premiere of The Ladder Plays is a collection of short comedies and dramas that all take place on or around ladders. Included are stories of eloping, a suicide off the letter “H” in the Hollywood sign, and even a one-act called “Spatial Disorientation” – about the last moments in the lives of John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife Carolyn, and her sister Lauren as they wait to take off in inclement weather to fly to Martha’s Vineyard.

The Ladder Plays opens at the Clayton Performing Arts Center at Hardin Valley on the campus of Pellissippi State College, March 23 and plays Friday and Saturdays at 8 pm through March 31, with a Sunday performance on April 1 at 2 pm. Call 865-694-6684 for more information or visit the website at www.pstcc.edu/theatre/news. Plateau Creative Arts Center: Colorful Abstract Art

4306.jpg

Category: Exhibitions, visual art

The monthly art exhibit by the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade beginning March 3 is a colorful collection of “Abstract” art.

This exhibition of sleek, vibrant, hip color schemes moves us into a brighter, more playful display. The good old days were filled with recess, eating glue, and scribbling with rainbow-colored crayons. And while your drawings might not have been masterpieces, you can re-capture the fun, by looking for the creatively-named colors of your childhood in the art exhibition.

Inspiration for this art work comes from the dedication of these artists, and it is worth a look for lots of neat and different kinds of displays. All items displayed can be viewed or purchased at the Plateau Creative Arts Center, 451 Lakeview Drive (off Peavine).
