Knoxville Writers Guild: Celebrating National Poetry Month

The Knoxville Writers Guild is proud to present a captivating evening of poetry and spoken word in celebration of National Poetry Month. The event will take place on April 10, 2025, at 7 PM at Addison's Bookstore and will feature the dynamic talents of youth poets and spoken word artists from across Knoxville. Admission is free, though donations are encouraged to support the Guild's mission to empower writers of all ages.

The evening will be hosted by acclaimed actor, poet, and educator Drew Drake. Currently serving as Artist in Residence at The University of Tennessee, Drew brings a wealth of experience and passion to the stage. His powerful performances have graced major venues such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Bonnaroo Music Festival. In addition to his artistic achievements, Drew is a dedicated advocate for youth engagement, having led impactful programs such as the NYC Youth Poet Laureate Program and facilitated writing workshops for marginalized communities.

Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum: Dogwood Trail Walk & Talk

Mark your calendar for a springtime stroll along the Dogwood Walking Trail. Learn more about the property’s dogwood collection and history and stay for a one-of-a-kind discussion about dogwoods with Brian Campbell, the Garden’s former Director of Horticulture.

5-6pm Dogwood Walking Trail will be open with docents providing information about the Garden’s dogwood collection and other featured plants along the paths.

6-7pm Brian Campbell Lecture in the Dogwood Center

Rachel Coffman - This event will take place on April 12th from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the bookstore.

Heather White - This event will take place on April 15th at 6:00pm at the bookstore.

Bill Haltom - This event will take place on April 25th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the bookstore.

Our next book club will take place on the last Monday of the month at Knox Brew Hub starting at 6:30 pm.
