A Summer Solstice Celebration featuring two remarkable musicians presented in association with Big Ears. Arve Henriksen's sound has been described as, "..breathy, impassioned and alternately earthy and ethereal." Combining jazz, electronica, ambient and classical music, Henriksen is the quintessential modern trumpet player.

Exploring new sonic regions with sensitivity and technique that positively engulfs the listener, guitarist James Blackshaw is a monster player. This excerpt from Triptych, pretty much says it all, "In only five years, James Blackshaw has earned a reputation as Britain's most brilliant young composer-guitarist, wowing the avant-garde and folk underground with his acoustic 12-string reveries."

The Magician's Nephew is the first book in C.S. Lewis' famed Narnia Chronicles. This play reveals the creation of the world of Narnia, holds the first confrontation between Aslan the Lion and the evil Queen Jadis, and illustrates the rewards of obedience. The Magician's Nephew explores the confrontation of good and evil as we watch young Digory and his friend Polly set forth on a series of magical adventures through mythical kingdoms and enchanted lands. Seeking a healing apple for the boy's mother, they encounter Queen Jadis and awaken her from her enchanted sleep, unleashing the power of evil in Narnia. Aslan sends Digory on a quest to bring back an apple to protect Narnia, but the same apple that could protect Narnia could also save his mother. Digory has a difficult choice to make. What will he do? Come and see how this exciting adventure unfolds.

Christy Fest is an annual event, held in Townsend, Tennessee, to celebrate the character of "Christie", the TV series, movies and classic novel by Catherine Marshall. Cast members, producers, writers, directors and crew from both productions come to Christy Fest to share memories, mingle with fans, and enjoy the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, where the television series was filmed. Christy Fest will take place June 17-21, 2009. The 2009 event will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Leonora Whitaker's arrival in Del Rio, Tennessee to teach the children of Morgan's Gap. (Leonora is the erson "Christie" was based on.) Whitaker's eldest daughter, Catherine Marshall, published the beloved novel "Christy" in 1967. It became a best seller, dramatizing Leonora's experiences in the Appalachian community at the turn of the century.

The Gold Award winning Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamps announce the 2009 music camp dates for flatpicking guitar, finger style guitar, dobro (TM ), acoustic bass, fiddle and old time banjo classes the week as June 14-21. New for June 14-21 is mountain lap dulcimer. The following week, June 21-28, the camp will host flatpicking guitar, bluegrass banjo and mandolin classes. New for the week of June 21-28 is songwriting and vocal camp. Each night the Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp will host concerts at the newly refurbished Alumni Gym. Classes, meals and housing take place at Maryville College, Maryville, TN.

This noted and Gold Award Winning acoustic instrument learning experience will be held at Maryville College. The design of these special Kamps is to gather musicians of all levels from around the globe with common goals – learning, playing, sharing music in a non-competitive learning atmosphere that encourages musicians of all levels to grow musically and seek our new ways of playing their instruments. Pre-registration is required.
