Tennessee Theatre: Boz Scaggs & Michael McDonald

TN_Theatre.jpg

Category: Auditions

It's insane to begin counting the hits these guys have between them, so we'll limit it to 3 each: Takin' It To The Streets, What A Fool Believes, Minute By Minute, Lido Shuffle, Lowdown, We're All Alone, the list goes on and on... Boz Scaggs of the candy-colored suits and scarves 'round his neck and his pal, Michael McDonald, with the blue-eyed soulful voice so instantly recognizable from a gazillion Doobie Brothers tunes. Once ensemble players on the left coast - Boz with Steve Miller during the day-glo days and McDonald with the Doobs. Both emerged in the 70's-80's with enormous solo careers that included dozens of hits and multiple grammy awards. Along the way, they also endowed countless couples with a new favorite song to call their own. These guys pretty much ruled the airwaves when terrestrial radio was the primary source for music. Before he hit it huge in the mid-70's with a sophisticated urban disco sound, Scaggs was known as an incomparable blues-inflected guitarist with great stage presence. McDonald had the kind of voice that appeals to anyone with ears and the ability to make every song sound like an anthem. They're a record producer's dream team. Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs, a pair of bonafide hit makers that represent a guilty pleasure for some and a profoundly tuneful watermark in the personal history of others.
