Jubilee Community Arts: Matt Kinman with the Hog Slop Band

Matt has performed with acts such as The Roan Mountain Hilltoppers. The Old Crow Medicine Show, the Hackensaw Boys, Leroy Troy, Chris Sharp and the Old Time Serenaders. Currently, Matt performs solo most of the time and “trades on about anything” to make ends meet. “I just try to be honest and go out there and play music and trade around. I’ve been fortunate to play with a lot of big names… It ain’t that I’m anything great, by no means… I just play old music the way that I hear it in my head and that’s the way it comes out.”

Free Sacred Choral Music Concert: From Byrd to Bruckner

The Pope Benedict XVI Schola proudly presents “Sacred Choral Music from Byrd to Bruckner” at Holy Ghost Church in Knoxville. The Schola’s repertory includes Renaissance polyphony, Gregorian chant, and other sacred music. Schola members come from churches throughout Knoxville, and the group’s director is Mary C. Weaver. Organist Charles Walden will also perform. The concert is free, and donations will be gratefully accepted.

UT Downtown Gallery: Pictures Hold Us Captive

The UT Downtown Gallery is proud to present the third in a series of fall exhibitions. Featured will be the art of a current member of the UT School of Art faculty and a former participant in the Visiting Artist in Residence program. This month we are featuring, recent paintings by UT Professor of painting Jered Sprecher who joined the faculty in 2006, and New York artist Carrie Moyer, who taught at UT during the fall semester, 2001.
