Jesse Daniel Edwards in Concert
Category: Free event and Music
July 25, 2022 at 9pm
Where: Barley's Knoxville
Free admission.
Jesse Daniel Edwards is an acclaimed songwriter hailing from the small mountain town of Cuyamaca, CA (pop. 60). As a child, Jesse and his 6 siblings grew up without television, internet, or significant exposure to the outside world. He spent his time learning to sing harmony to gospel tracks and tinkering on hand-me-down instruments with his grandpa. Leaving home at 16, he spent his late teen years busking on street corners around the US and abroad. He eventually grew to perform upon the festival and university circuits full-time after a chance encounter with Al Bunetta (Oh Boy Records), sharing the stage with Morrissey, Lucinda Williams, and John Prine. His songs have been featured in radio, TV, streaming movies, video games, and film.

Update 7/13/22:
Due to complications related to a positive COVID case within the company of FOREVER PLAID, we regret that we are forced to cancel performances on opening night, Friday July 15 and on Saturday, July 16. No more tickets will be sold for those performance dates. Our new opening date will be Thursday, July 21.
Written by Stuart Ross
Musical Arrangements by James Raitt
On the way to their first big gig, tragedy strikes Forever Plaid, a “guy group” specializing in barbershop quartet harmonies and pitch-perfect melodies. Forever Plaid begins when the guys are given the chance to perform from the afterlife. This “Heavenly” smash hit musical is a nostalgic homage to the music of the ‘50s and includes hits such as “Three Coins in the Fountain” and “Love is a Many-Splendored Thing”.

Oak Ridge Art Center: The Fabric of Memory
Category: Exhibitions, visual art, Fine Crafts and Free event
Memories are the fabric of our lives. Our experiences are woven together on the warp of time to create a tapestry of meaning: sometimes coming together to form a clear picture in one’s mind; sometimes waiting to be resolved, or unraveling. For some, fabric can hold memories – your grandmother’s quilt, the dress you wore to prom, the baby booties you knit for your first child, even the wine stain on your best tablecloth. Each represents a memory spun into the fabric of one’s life.

Art Market Gallery: Fiber Artist Showcase
Category: Exhibitions, visual art, Fine Crafts and Free event
First Friday Reception: July 1, 5:30 – 9:00 pm
Featured artists: Elle Colquitt, Fiber Art; Elaine Fronczek, Felted Art; Harriet Howell. Fiber Art; Carol Pritcher, Weaving
Elle Colquitt, Fiber Art
Elle Colquitt has been working as a professional fiber artist since the early 1970's. For over a decade, Elle designed art quilts and self-published patterns/books through her company, The Picket Fence, exhibiting at International Quilt Festivals and trade shows across the country. Teaching workshops included PBS, HGTV and many hands-on workshops. Currently, she is enjoying the challenge of designing fiber vessels. The wide variety of texture and pattern of her fabrics create designs that impersonate other materials; her work falls somewhere between quilting, basketry, pottery, and sculpture. Each unique vessel features distinctive trims and embellishments.
Elaine Fronczek, Felted Art
The fiber arts were an avocation for me for over 50 years. In 2008 I learned to wet felt wool fibers at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. I have since expanded into incorporating other fibers such as silk in both wet and needle felting. My creations are both functional and whimsical.
zHarriet Howell, Fiber Art
Harriet Howell has been a working artist for over 40 years and works in a variety of media. The prevailing theme throughout her work is her use of color to express the energy, emotion and atmosphere of the subject. Her purpose is to engage the viewer and entice them into a world beyond what they see. Harriet enjoys painting both in the studio for her abstract work, and on location for her more realistic work. The abstract work focuses on color, shape and texture to express emotional and spiritual themes. In her landscape work, she uses these same elements to express the unique qualities of a particular subject on a particular day. In her wearable art pieces, Harriet hopes her work will make the wearer feel the joy and pleasure of wearing something beautiful.
Carol Pritcher, Weaving
Carol is a fiber artist who has been weaving for over 40 years and is also a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and the Appalachian Arts Craft Center. She weaves mostly one of a kind pieces of clothing, but also rugs, placemats and wall hangings.
