Town of Farragut: 6th Annual DOG DAZE
Category: Festivals, special events and Kids, family
DOG DAZE VI @ Village Green Shopping Center is presented by the Angie Cody Real Estate Team. This will be a 3 Day Festival of fun, food, shopping and competition! SHOP FARRAGUT and the Town of Farragut have teamed up with Smoky Mountain Dock Dogs (http://www.smokymountaindockdogs.com/) and Ricki’s Pet Depot (http://rickispetdepot.com/) to bring a nationally sanctioned regional canine aquatics competition by DOCK DOGS INTERNATIONAL (http://dockdogs.com/). The festivities will take place in the Village Green Shopping Center parking lot.
Smoky Mountain DockDogs is the local club that will be supporting this event. Winners of this weekend’s events will move on towards the World Championships in October as seen on ESPN. Competitors love coming to the Dog Daze at Village Green event because of the atmosphere of the crowd, the local food trucks, and the level of competition this event brings. There will be over 400 jumps with 150 competitors. Smoky Mountain DockDogs will also conduct a silent auction which will benefit the B.A.A.R.K. foundation. This is an organization that helps the DockDogs community in their time of need.

Lilienthal Gallery: "Rooms" by Illana Lilienthal
Category: Exhibitions, visual art and Free event
First Friday August 5th
“Rooms,” will be a solo show presenting a breadth of work by Ilana Lilienthal. A “room” is a space we create in order to be in, that we design to evoke certain feelings and emotions. When we create space, the goal is to influence both ourselves and others around us. In a conversation with a “room” we live or work in, there is a dance between forms, colors, and objects – creating a distinct energy field. This show encompasses three rooms, each inspired by a different palette. Red, Black & White, and Amber, each representing a color field working as a unique spiritual, psychological, and emotional experience.

Tax-free weekend: Food & Food Ingredients
Category: Culinary arts, food and Festivals, special events
This year, Tennessee has not one, but three tax free holidays! They range from clothing and school supplies to groceries and even gun safety equipment. Dates:
July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023: Gun Safes & Safety Equipment
August 1, 2022 – August 31, 2022: Food & Food Ingredients
Qualifying gun safes for the sales tax holiday have locking containers equipped with a padlock, key lock, combination lock or other device to store guns securely. This sales tax holiday runs until June 2023, so there is plenty of time to make your purchases.
The new grocery sales tax holiday is welcome especially with the rising cost of food. Best of all, this sales tax holiday will last the entire month of August. A good rule of thumb for this sales tax holiday is if you can find it in a grocery store, it’s included. However, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, candy, dietary supplements and prepared food will not be tax free. Keep in mind that food purchased at a “micro market or vending machine” is subject to sales tax. The state estimates this sales tax holiday will save Tennesseans more than $80 million.
