Knoxville History Project: Addison’s Bookstore: Knoxville Literature
Category: History, heritage, Lecture, panel and Literature, spoken word, writing
Wednesday, November 20 at 7:00pm at 126. S. Gay Street
If you haven’t visited, there’s a great bookstore, specializing in rarities and first editions, on Gay Street, just across the street from KHP’s subterranean headquarters. To celebrate the freshly printed second edition of our (free) booklet, “Knoxville: A Literary Guide,” Jack Neely will be talking about Knoxville’s unique literary heritage that can somehow combine both Frances Hodgson Burnett, author of The Secret Garden, and Cormac McCarthy, author of Blood Meridian, along with James Agee, Nikki Giovanni, and several others who seem to have nothing in common but the city where they lived and worked. $5.00 admission.
