The 14th Annual Arts In The Park, “Art In The Heart of Hamblen County,” a visual and performing arts event, will be celebrated on Saturday, September 18, 2021, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Park, located at 350 West Ninth North Street, Morristown, Tennessee.

Regenia Ford, Guest Artist, paints horses, barns, mountain, and wildlife scenes on barnwood. She grew up loving horses from birth! She began drawing horses at a very young age. When she was old enough, she tried the paint by number pictures. She painted and kept drawing throughout her life as time would permit. She tried to get into art class in high school but could not and the teacher generously allowed her to sit in during study hall. She credits Carroll Barger, Cocke County High School, with teaching her to see colors in everything she looks at and gave her the bit of information needed to begin painting. She began her journey of painting on wood and rustic items 19 years ago when she painted a house scene on barn wood for her mom and stepdad.

She attended her first craft show as a vendor at the “On Cosby Festival” in 2011. Regenia loves painting and is still learning. Her goal is to make someone happy and hopefully bring a feeling of nostalgia when viewing her barn, mountain, and wildlife scenes. Regenia was born and raised for the most part in Hartford TN. Her family dates back to 1700’s in this area on both her mother’s and father’s side of her family. She has been married 33 years to the love of her life and has 3 grown children and one grandson that she is totally crazy about! In addition to painting and selling her art, Regenia is Director of Human Services at Carson Newman University.

Mitch Smith, guest performing artist, a Morristown composer, musician, music teacher, and owner of Round Table School of Music, will perform and provide the sound for Arts In The Park.

Arts In The Park is a one-day annual celebration of visual arts—two-dimensional fine art, fine quality crafts, artistic photography, and sculpture—and performing arts for Morristown Art Association Member artists, crafters, and local visual and performing artists to showcase, display, sell, and demonstrate their arts, crafts, and talents.

Fine arts and crafts, exciting live performances, roving entertainers, great food and refreshments, art demonstrations, “Try Your Hand At Art,” an art walk, sidewalk chalk art, and hands-on children’s art activities will add to the festival’s appeal. Admission is FREE.

This 14th Annual Arts In The Park is an event of the Morristown Art Association, Morristown Parks and Recreation, and Rose Center Council for the Arts. Parking is limited; so, park at Rose Center and take the Girls Inc. shuttle to and from the park.
