The 2009 exhibit will be housed in an elegant new location at 128 S. Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902. In addition to the exhibit's Grand Opening to the public that will occur on April 3 (5-10 pm), there will be a ticketed Dogwood Gala preview party the night before featuring the Regional Fine Arts Exhibition, opportunity to meet many of the artists, catered fare, live music, and a tour of the spectacular three story loft residence. The exhibit will include artist demonstrations and a fundraising art raffle.

Der Rouska Schoeka (The Red Shoes) is a shadow puppet show based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson. The Exhibition will run from April 3-25.

Encore performance and Closing Reception! Pik-nik Potluck and Puppet Show Extravaganza!
April 25th 7-11pm, Shows at 8 and 10 pm. Sara Marie Miller and Veronica Siehl will be hosting the event, which will include music by DJ La'Manjello from Portland, Oregon and an optional pik-nik potluck. Bring a food or drink if you please!

Der Rouska Schoeka is comprised of shadow puppets, paper puppet paraphernalia and mixed media installation elements. The exhibition addresses issues of desire, loss and the problematic nature of mistaking attractive appearances for beautiful depths. The Red Shoes has taken on various interpretations throughout history. This production focuses on issues of illusion, alienation, transformation and the shadowy side of human nature. An exhibit showcasing Dagnan's oil and watercolor landscape paintings will be on display at the Farragut Town Hall through Thursday, April 30, 2009. An East Tennessee native, Dagnan has been drawing and painting since childhood. His inspiration comes from the rural landscapes of this area. "Most of my paintings are of the mountains, hills, lakes and structures of this area," said Dagnan. "I enjoy the changing light and colors that come from the distinctly different seasons of Tennessee." A University of Tennessee (UT) graduate, Dagan is retired from the UT Institute of Agriculture where he was employed as an artist for 37 years. He now devotes full time to painting oils and watercolors. He began exhibiting his work in 1970, has held seven one-man art shows and has participated in numerous national, state and regional art shows. His paintings are represented in many private and public collections throughout the United States. Each month the work of an artist or group of artists is featured in specially designed cases on the second floor of the rotunda in the Farragut Town Hall. Children of all ages are invited to join musicians and storytellers Sean McCollough and Georgi Schmidt for a musical adventure through history. Hear stories about famous people overcoming great odds; stories about the Civil Rights and Disability Rights Movements -- all working to accomplish amazing changes for freedom in the world. Gerald Anderson is an architect and architectural painter who has traveled the world studying and painting architectural subjects. His show entitled "The Art of Architecture" includes paintings of architectural subjects from around the world. Most works are in acrylics, although some are done in oils or watercolors. A primary objective is the manipulation of form and space wherein the creation of form in paint is parallel to the creation of form in architecture. The design of a painting and of a building incorporate the same basic design elements.

Jeri Allison earned a B.F.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and Charlotte, with a specialization in painting. Her M.F.A. degree, with a concentration in drawing, is from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. The works in Allison's current dhow reflect two years of submersion in the realm of the elephant, in hopes that the viewer will come to see the elephant with empathy.

The opening reception will take place on Friday evening, March 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a talk by the artists at 7 p.m.
