Theatre Knoxville Downtown: Auditions for "The Irish Curse"
Category: Auditions and Theatre
The Irish Curse by Martin Casella, directed by Zack Allen
Runs: Aug 29-Sep 14, 2014
Audition Times: Saturday, July 19, 3:00-5:00 pm and Sunday, July 20, 3:00-5:00 pm
Available Roles: Seeking 5 men. This comic play utilizes very bawdy language and concerns the provocative and sensitive topic of penis size and its relation to self-esteem.
Synopsis: What "The Irish Curse" is - and how it manifests itself - is the raw centerpiece of this wicked, rollicking and very funny new play. From its blistering language to its brutally honest look at sex and body image, The Irish Curse is a revealing portrait of how men, and society, define masculinity. In doing so, it dares to pose the fundamental question that has been on the minds of men since the beginning of time: "Do I measure up to the next guy?"
Auditions will held at the theatre, 319 N. Gay Street, Knoxville 37917. Please bring a headshot or recent photo, if possible. Resumes are helpful but not required. No prepared monologue is needed; auditions will be cold readings from the script. For more information, email info@theatreknoxville.com.
Shakespeare on the Square: Titus Andronicus

7:00 pm nightly outdoors on Market Square
2:00 pm indoors at the Square Room, July __
One of Shakespeare’s earliest tragedies, and far and away his darkest, most bloody play , “Titus Andronicus, is like an Elizabethan horror movie. Interestingly, it was also Shakespeare’s most popular play during his lifetime. The story rests on a struggle for control of the Roman Empire but the play is awash in blood – beheadings, mutilations and horrible crimes against humanity. This play is not for the faint of heart. “These words are razors to my wounded heart.”

Shakespeare on the Square: Much Ado About Nothing
Category: Theatre
MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING: Directed by Tom Parkhill and Jennifer Alldredge
July 17, 19, 25, 27, 31 Aug. 2, 8, 10, 14, 16
7:00 pm nightly outdoors on Market Square
2:00 pm indoors at the Square Room, TBD
This most perfect of romantic comedies centers on Shakespeare’s wittiest lovers, Beatrice and Benedick, two people determined to avoid the foolishness of love at all costs! The verbal fireworks between these two make up some of Shakespeare’s best writing. Along the way we meet more lovers, distraught fathers, villains and the 16th century’s answer to the Three Stooges – Dogberry and the Watch. Of course, like all good comedies, everyone ends up married – more or less. “I will live in thy heart, die In thy lap, and be buried in thy eyes.”
