This energetic musical follows Tom, a young school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music.
Memorable songs such as “Just A Bill,” “Interplanet Janet,” “Interjections” and “Conjunction Junction” bring his lesson plans vividly to life.

Thomas, a beleaguered young playwright/director is desperate to find an actress to play Vanda, the female lead in his adaptation of the classic sadomasochistic tale, Venus in Furs. Into his empty audition room walks a vulgar and equally desperate
actress--oddly enough, named Vanda. As the two work through the script they blur the line
between play and reality, entering into an increasingly serious game of submission and domination that only one of them can win.
Contains mature subject matter, rated R for sexual content and adult themes.

Tennessee Children's Dance Ensemble: Season Opener

The Tennessee Children’s Dance Ensemble (The Dance Ensemble) opens its 34th annual touring season on February 27 & 28 at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium. This year's exciting season opener includes performances by Ensemble alumnae Kelly Arsenault, world swing dance champion, and Karlie Budge, who was chosen to work with Nationally acclaimed New York choreographer Mark Morris. Also featured will be a new dance, "Northstar" by alumna Rebecca Serrell Cyr, winner of New York City's coveted 2014 Bessie award for outstanding performance. as well as "Disrupted," a haunting display of tribal rhythms by Randy Duncan, former director of the Joseph Holmes Dance Company in Chicago. Performances will take place Friday and Saturday evening at 8:00pm, with an additional matinee performance at 2:30pm on Saturday. Tickets are $26.00 and may be obtained by calling 865-584-9636.

Hailing from historic County Waterford, Danú is one of the leading traditional Irish ensembles of today. Recognized the world over for their standing room only appearances, their concerts are true events featuring high-energy performances and a glorious mix of ancient Irish music and new repertoire. The 2014-2015 season marks this extraordinary ensemble’s 20th anniversary.
For two decades, Danú’s virtuosi players on flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion, bouzouki, and vocals (Irish and English), have performed around the globe and recorded nine critically acclaimed albums.

Tennessee Theatre: Lexus Luxury Performances featuring Kacey Musgraves

Singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves, 26, released her Grammy-winning debut album "Same Trailer Different Park" in March of 2013 -co-produced by Kacey, Shane McAnally and Luke Laird. It was certified gold in August 2014 for selling over 500,000 copies. Musgraves' single "Follow Your Arrow" was also certified gold, while "Merry Go Round" was certified platinum. A Texas native, Kacey began singing publicly at 8 and wrote her first song at age 9. To date, that talent has produced cuts for multi-platinum artists such as Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert. Miranda’s album "Four the Record" includes Kacey’s co-written track “Mama’s Broken Heart” which Rolling Stone Magazine ranked #26 in their “50 Best Singles of 2011” list. Kacey's musical influences range from Loretta Lynn and John Prine to bands like Cake and The Beach Boys. Kacey was honored to bridge wide musical gaps throughout 2014 as she toured with Lady Antebellum, Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss & Union Station, and Katy Perry on the Prismatic World Tour.

Old-Time Music
A master of traditional Appalachian fiddle and banjo styles, Dirk Powell was inspired as a teenager by his grandfather James Clarence Hay of Ashland, Kentucky to move from early classical training to the music of his family heritage. Riley Baugus began honing his musical skills with close friend and neighbor, fiddler Kirk Sutphin, by visiting elder traditional musicians in and around Grayson County, Virginia and Surry County, North Carolina. He often visited, played with, and learned from fiddlers Tommy Jarrell and Robert Sykes and from banjo player Dix Freeman.

Knoxville Museum of Art: Alive After Five

Since 1993, and years before the resurgence of downtown, Alive After Five has been attracting people to Knoxville from the Knox County periphery and surrounding counties to enjoy live music, food, spirits, and art in the casually elegant atmosphere of the Knoxville Museum of Art. The early Friday evening program has been a great way to wind down from the work week or to start the weekend or both. Mostly showcasing the rich treasure trove of local and regional musical talent, Alive After Five has also presented acts from New Orleans, Boston, Dallas, Canada, Peru, France, Japan, Australia, and more. Food is available from a variety of area restaurants or caterers, and there are two cash bars.

Monroe Area Council for the Arts: The Friendship Quilt Exhibit

Monroe Area Council for the Arts (MACA) will present The Friendship Quilt Exhibit, featuring the work of The Merry Crow Hop Quilters, at the Vonore Community Center February 26-28, 10 a.m-6 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public. There will be an opening reception and a chance to meet some of the artists Thursday, February 26, 5:30 - 7 p.m. The exhibit is sponsored by Cutting Edge Builders, Inc.
Over a period of 35 years, The Merry Crow Hop Quilters have collaborated to produce a remarkable collection of quilts, each one distinctive and every square as unique as the individuals for whom they were made. Every quilt commemorates the milestones of life, including births and birthdays. Healing quilts have been made to comfort friends facing illness or injury. Approximately 26 of these creations will be featured in the exhibit.
The quilts feature the handiwork of Pamela Madden, Heather Houvenagle, Dona Van Asdale, Valerie Carmley, Jasmine Madden, Elida Houvenagle, Anita McClure, Ginny Smiley, Eda Ciemania, Olivia Kane, Mary Hendershot, Eileen Totten, Kathy Hampton, Lynda Best, Tilda Madden, Julie Guthrie, Kathy Hartley, Jill Alliman, Dianne Chapman, and many others.
