Based on the popular international television show sensation that airs in the US on PBS KIDS® and PBS KIDS SproutSM, Bob the Builder™ LIVE! Spud's Big Mess is a singing and dancing extravaganza for budding builders and their families. The show stars Bob the Builder, his business partner Wendy, trusty machine-team members Scoop, Dizzy, Lofty and Scrambler and other favorite friends from Sunflower Valley, including the mischievous scarecrow Spud, Farmer Pickles and Mayor Bentley.

The show begins as Bob and his team build the first-ever recycling center and wind farm in Sunflower Valley. It isn't long before some items go missing and a few of Bob's friends mysteriously disappear. Faced with a mountain of garbage, they must figure out who is responsible for the mess and work together to fix it, while dealing with Spud's antics. Can they all pull together and get the job done? Yes they can! The 90-minute show features 10 original songs and sees the characters embark on an adventure that promotes positive message s of caring for the environment, recycling, teamwork, cooperation and, of course, the importance of a can-do spirit. Interwoven into the storyline are takeaway lessons for kids and good reminders for the grown-ups. In support of the eco-friendly messages of this show, the producers will use all show communications to encourage attendees to read the show programs online. In addition, show materials will include special recycling tips and eco-themed activities for kids. All venues where the live show is performing will be encouraged to use recycling containers and include how to attend the show by using public transportation on their website.

A local fiber artist, Earith's exhibit showcases contemporary art quilts, 3-dimensional fabric vessels and an assortment of stunning fiber brooches. She is also displaying sample journals from the "Introduction to Journal Making" class she will be teaching at the Farragut Town Hall on Thursday, July 30 (class information at www.townoffarragut.org). Earith's artwork can be found in collections around the world and has been featured in numerous books and magazines.

Each month the work of an artist or group of artists is featured in specially designed cases on the second floor of the rotunda in the Farragut Town Hall. On December 22, 2008, a retaining wall at the Tennessee Valley Authority's Kingston coal-fired power plant collapsed, causing a fly ash spill of unprecedented size—2.6 million cubic yards of the wet gray sludge buried about 400 acres six feet deep. Despite TVA's massive cleanup effort, environmentalists and residents are concerned about the possible health hazards posed by the ash at the accident site and miles downstream.

Art from the Ashes includes a selection of objects by concerned artists and other individuals from across the country who learned of this accident and wanted to help affected families. This exhibition features a variety of works ranging from original paintings and sculptures to photographic reproductions, prints, and other items. The works on display will be auctioned on Sunday, June 28 with all proceeds going to the United Mountain Defense (UMD), a local environmental advocacy group whose mission includes raising funds to provide medical assistance for residents affected by the ash spill. Drawn from the rich archive at the John Kobal Foundation in London, this exhibition focuses on the stars, the sets, and the scenes created by the film industry and memorialized by the most important photographers who worked in Hollywood from 1920 to 1960. Featuring more than 90 vintage prints, Made in Hollywood offers a glimpse into the world of fantasy, glamour, and perfection that the image makers produced. Kobal (1940-1991) was a leading Hollywood historian who collected prints by some of most important photographers working in Hollywood during its golden era: Ernest Bachrach, Margaret Bourke-White, Nikolas Muray, Clarence Sinclair Bull, Eugene Richee, George Hurrell, and many others. Their subjects are drawn from the pantheon of the greatest stars produced during the golden age of Hollywood: Garbo, Dietrich, Swanson, Cooper, Harlow, Gable, Hepburn, Bogart, and many others.
