The Mabry-Hazen House will be hosting their annual Christmas Tours. Tour the 152 year old historic home decorated in all of its Christmas splendor. Admission is free to the public and donations are appreciated. Light refreshments will be provided.

Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association: The Nutcracker

The Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association presents their 47th annual production of Tchaikovsky's “Nutcracker†featuring Erin-Elizabeth Watts of the Atlanta Ballet and Noel Dupuis on Saturday, December 11 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m., with an encore performance designed for small children on Saturday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m.
Molly Koon Quist is Artistic Director and Sharon Nicklow Cousins is Assistant Director. All performances are at the Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center. Mabry-Hazen House: Annual Christmas Tours

The Mabry-Hazen House Annual Christmas Tours will be given on December 11th from 5-8pm and on December 12th from 2-5pm. Rooms and other areas will be decorated by well known Knoxville decorators including Samuel Franklin, The Flower Pot, and Scott Morrell of Flowers, Patsy Vittetoe, as well as Volunteers, Board Members and Museum Staff. The event is free of charge to the public and light refreshments will be served. A special display will also be on exhibit in the Visitor’s Center containing some rarely seen objects. The home will remain decorated and open for regular tours until December 22nd subject to regular tour fees.

Bring the family for some Christmas fun! Ornament and craft making for the kids, cookies and hot cider, quilting and needlework demonstrations, stories from Christmases-past, and holiday shopping. Visitors can also tour the temporary exhibition Bagels and Barbeque: the Jewish Experience in Tennessee, the permanent exhibition Voices of the Land, and the new collection of photographs by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Robin Hood from his new book Historic Tennessee. The Marble Springs State Historic Homestead invites you to join us for our annual Candle Making Workshop Saturday, December 11. This hands-on workshop will teach you about early American lighting practices and how several different types of candles were made during the time of Gov. John Sevier. Knoxville Zoo: Breakfast with Santa

Despite a hectic December schedule, Santa Claus has plans to stop by Knoxville Zoo for a special holiday appearance. Join the jolly old elf himself for Breakfast with Santa on at 11:00 a.m., with seating beginning at 10:00 a.m. Guests will enjoy a hot breakfast buffet in the Pilot Special Exhibit Building and festive holiday crafts and games inspired by the season. Guests can also have a personal visit with Santa to reassure him that they have indeed been very nice this year, and pose for a keepsake photo, so be sure to bring your camera. Santa’s helpers will make sure each child receives a special zoo gift, too. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling the zoo at (865) 637-5331, ext. 300.
Tickets are $22.95 for adults and $17.95 for children 2-12 years. Children under 2 are free. Zoo members receive a $3.00 discount on tickets. Ticket price includes breakfast, all games and activities, child’s holiday gift from Santa and admission to Knoxville Zoo. Seating to this event is limited.

Jubilee Community Arts: Dor L’Dor

Klezmer for Hanukkah
Knoxville klezmer band Dor L’Dor returns to the Laurel Theater for this year’s Hanukkah concert. Formed in 1999 by Ken and Susan Brown, the band currently includes about a dozen musicians from a variety of musical backgrounds, including classical training and jazz performance. Klezmer originated in Eastern Europe and borrows from various musical traditions of that region as well as from religious liturgy, musical theater, and American jazz.
