GO! Contemporary Dance Works, a local non-profit dance company comprised of 22 local youth aged 12-18, will present its world premiere of ALICE, a full-length contemporary ballet based on the Lewis Carroll novel, Alice in Wonderland. The immensely popular story combines classical, contemporary and aerial dance with powerful sets and vibrant costumes.

There will be a wonderful gala event prior to the Saturday evening performance at Club LeConte. An elegant buffet dinner, perfect for the pre-Valentine's Day celebration, a silent auction and preferred performance seating is included in the ticket price.

LADIES! Get out your poodle skirts and saddle oxfords! GENTLEMEN! Grease back your hair, and find your straight legged Levi’s! We are going to rock the night away here at the Fountain City Art Center on Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Our live band will be Broadway Sound’s “Broadway Swing,” including Lynn Clapp, Margaret Seagraves, Wayne Goforth, Linda Wise, and some of the other five members, depending on who is available that evening. Dressing up in the 50’s style is highly encouraged; dining, dancing, and having a great time are “mandatory.”

The South Carolina Broadcasters are an award winning old-time trio with modern day appeal. The Knoxville Bonsai Society will hold its third annual Winter Bonsai Display in the Garden Club Room. Displaying in Winter allows for the viewer to see the delicate structure of deciduous bonsai like Japanese Maples and American Hornbeams, which can be much more impressive than with all the leaves in place. The largest bonsai show in Japan, Kokufu Ten, is also held about this same time each year in February and has been for over 80 years as it is considered the best time to display bonsai. Members of the KBS from Nashville to Asheville, but mostly from Knoxville will show bonsai for your viewing pleasure.

Please come and enjoy some of the nicest bonsai in the region free of charge.

Tennessee Stage Company Presents Shakespeare Out Loud featuring All’s Well That Ends Well.

On the second Saturday of each month we will gather to read one of the plays of William Shakespeare. Our February reading is the love story All’s Well That Ends Well just in tine for Valentine’s Day.

IT’S FREE AND FUN!
Readings are at the Lawson McGee Library on the second Saturday of each month. Readings are free and open to the public. Hearing these plays read aloud offers much more insight into the depths of Shakespeare’s work.

We will meet at 2:00 pm. There will be twelve chairs set up and whoever wants to read out loud can choose one of the twelve chairs. There will be additional seating for anyone who wants to read along silently. We will take a fifteen minute break in the middle of each play. Some copies of the play will be available but please bring your own if possible.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME
We welcome all voices, all dialects. We read the plays for the joy of reading them and to hear and discover more about the plays that have not yet been performed by Shakespeare On The Square. Maybe one of these is the one we should perform next!

As part of this season's Shakespeare Project, Knoxville Opera presents "Romeo and Juliette" in French with projected English translations, at the Tennessee Theater.

Shakespeare's tragic Romeo & Juliette has captivated audiences for more than 400 years. Gounod's lush, romantic score enhances the story with some of the most passionate music found in all of opera. On Valentine's weekend Knoxville Opera welcomes Puerto Rico's enchanting Zulimar López-Hernández and San Francisco Opera's sensational Noah Stewart as the passionate, ill-fated lovers.

Performances will be at the Tennessee Theatre on Friday, February 10 at 8:00pm and Sunday, February 12 at 2:30pm. The student dress rehearsal will be Feb. 8 at 6:30 PM and performances will be Feb. 10 at 8:00 PM and Feb. 12 at 2:30 PM.
