Tennessee Stage Company: New Play Festival production of "The Good Son"

A world premiere play of a murder mystery by Knoxville playwright Craig Smith. The play has strong language; young people would need to be accompanied by an adult. Seats are first come, first served (up to 50 per performance).

Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center: Smoky Mountain Fiber Arts Festival

Join us for this interactive arts event connecting the community with fiber arts activities. The festival will include fiber animal exhibitions, Marketplace of Vendors, classes, educational demonstrations of spinning, weaving, needlecrafts, dyeing, and many other fiber processes, hands-on projects with children and adults, local artists' work and fiber craft supplies, and information about local fiber activities, groups, businesses, and instructional resources.

Clayton Center for the Arts: Loaves and Fishes Experience: Food for the Soul

On March 16 -17, 2012, you can learn more about a variety of food ministry workshops on Community Gardens, Haiti's Children's Nutrition Program, Cooking Classes, Fair Trade Resources and more. This Experience will also feed your spirit and energize your walk with Christ with table fellowship classes on such topics as Family Systems, Leader training, Small Church ministries, Young Adults in Today's Church and Resources for Christian Education.
Be sure to visit the MarketPlace in the Clayton Center for the Arts to sample local foods, buy books and hand-crafted products, or to learn more about various ministries in East Tennessee.

Ijams Nature Center: Public Programs

This exhibit by the Southern Appalachian Nature Photographers celebrates the beauty of the region while highlighting some of the environmental threats to the region. Ijams Spring Break Camp: Spring Awakenings*
(Grades K-5) Join us for a week of fun and exciting outdoor activities. Each day has a different theme- from ponds and plants to bugs and blooms. Campers may register for individual days or the entire week. The weekly fee is $175 for members and $200 for non-members. The daily fee is $40 for members and $45 for non-members. Tennessee Children's Dance Ensemble: Spring Concert

Held at the Clarence Brown Theatre, the annual concert gives us the opportunity to showcase a broad range of dances and gives both the junior and senior members of the company time to shine. Another exciting aspect of the Spring Concert is the School Performances we offer on the Friday. Student groups are able to come and watch abbreviated shows. This more intimate setting allows more contact between the students and dancers. If you have a group that you would like to bring, please contact our office for more information. Space is limited so please call to make your reservation. Tickets for the school performances are $5 for students with their adult chaperones free.

Knoxville Watercolor Society: “Illuminationsâ€

The Knoxville Watercolor Society presents “Illuminationsâ€â€”a mix of recent transparent watercolor paintings by the Knoxville Watercolor Society. The Show will be in the downstairs gallery of the Knoxville Museum of Art from March 16 to May 6. An opening reception with refreshments will take place on March 25 from 2 to 4 PM. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 Pm and on Sundays from 1 PM to 5 PM and is located at 1050 Worlds Fair Park Drive. Ewing Gallery: 65th Annual Student Art Competition

Begun in 1947 by C. Kermit Ewing, founder of The University of Tennessee School of Art, the annual student exhibition has become one of the oldest competitions in the country and one of the highlights of the Ewing Gallery's exhibition season. This competition has been an outlet for UT's talented students for 65 years, wherein countless works of art of every form and medium have been displayed and applauded by The University and Knoxville community.
This year's jurors are Amy Koch, an assistant professor of Art History at Towson University; Karen Shaw, New York artist and curator for the Islip Art Museum and Carriage House; and Kenneth White, graphic designer and recruiter for web design.
Both Kenneth White and Karen Shaw will be lecturing on Tuesday March 6th. Kenneth White's lecture will be at 4pm in room 109 and Karen Shaw's lecture begins at 7pm in room 109.
Both lectures are open to the public. We hope to see you there.

Plateau Creative Arts Center: Colorful Abstract Art

The monthly art exhibit by the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade beginning March 3 is a colorful collection of “Abstract†art.
This exhibition of sleek, vibrant, hip color schemes moves us into a brighter, more playful display. The good old days were filled with recess, eating glue, and scribbling with rainbow-colored crayons. And while your drawings might not have been masterpieces, you can re-capture the fun, by looking for the creatively-named colors of your childhood in the art exhibition.
Inspiration for this art work comes from the dedication of these artists, and it is worth a look for lots of neat and different kinds of displays. All items displayed can be viewed or purchased at the Plateau Creative Arts Center, 451 Lakeview Drive (off Peavine).
