Category: Festivals, special events and Fundraisers

Join us just days after the projected peak of Elkmont’s famous synchronous firefly display for a historic meal served in Elkmont’s Appalachian Clubhouse. Originally established in 1910 by an affluent group of Knoxville sportsmen, the Appalachian Club provided a summer retreat for its members. Cabins soon appeared in the Daisy Town area of Elkmont. Constructed in 1934, the current clubhouse replaced the previous structure that was lost to fire. National Park Service completed rehabilitation of the venue in 2011. The festivities will begin with historian-guided tours of Elkmont’s Daisy Town area. Dinner (at 6 p.m.) will be based upon dishes typical of those served at the height of the Appalachian Club. Start the evening with the signature cocktail, the Firefly Shine. 50 guests, $100.00 per person. Location: Elkmont | Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Knox Heritage’s popular series of fundraising dinners, Summer Suppers, takes place annually in some of the region’s most spectacular historic places. The suppers are organized by host committees of volunteers who work together to plan every detail.
