Tennessee Theatre Summer Movie Magic weekend

On Friday nights, movies about some of the best bands of all time will be featured for the Summer of Sound series. Popular Picks will be a staple for Saturday nights. Matinees on Sunday will be all about Family Fun and feature movies that everyone can enjoy. Friday and Saturday night showings will begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m. Doors open one hour prior to each movie’s start time at 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. Knox County: School Mania

Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs’ School Mania is an annual event for all Knox County Students from preschool through 12th grade to receive free school supplies.

School Mania will take place on Friday, August 5th 2022 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Parking Lot of the Jacob Building in Chilhowee Park, 3500 Knoxville Zoo Dr, Knoxville, TN 37914. The drive up event is FREE & OPEN to the public. School Mania is open to all school aged students in Knox County, the student must be present to receive their school supplies or proof of registration must be provided in order to obtain the supplies.

Able Trade: First Friday with Kyle Cottier and Kelsey Tiara Photo

Joining us for August’s First Friday Gallery Night is Kyle Cottier is a sculptor. His interdisciplinary practice blends traditional textile and woodworking techniques spanning sculpture, installation, photography, painting, illustration, writing and performance. Kyle creates work informed by the convergence of the natural and made world, exploring the synthesis of personal and social transformations.

Kelsey Dillow runs a photography darkroom at Whistlepig Farms where she practices handmade photographic processes, specifically wet plate collodion, AKA Tintypes. She also runs a mobile tintype photobooth available for events of all kinds, as well as portrait sessions, artwork documentation and more. In her personal work, Dillow’s studio practice explores connecting and dividing lines between religion, folklore, mythmaking and Appalachian identity. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Appalachian region.

And as always our First Friday Gallery Night has snacks, beer, and the latest and greatest from all our Able Trade members!

“Alchemy,” a term that refers to a seemingly magical power of transmutation as well as the ancient chemical philosophy of turning base metal into gold or silver, can apply to enamel as it is magically transformed by heat. ALCHEMY6 is the 18th Biennial International Juried Enamel Exhibition and the 14th International Juried Student Enamel Exhibition.

These Exhibitions highlight the best in contemporary enamels. The International Juried Exhibition showcases the work of enamelists that demonstrate aesthetic and technical expertise, while the Student Exhibition features the work of students throughout the world.
