Category: Culinary arts, food, Exhibitions, visual art, Festivals, special events, Fine Crafts, Kids, family and Music

Get ready to experience the magic of the Louie Bluie Festival - produced by the Campbell Culture Coalition! On September 30, 2023, the festival will return to Cove Lake State Park from 10am to 6pm for a full day of live music and Appalachian art, and this year, we're introducing some exciting new changes that will make the event even more unforgettable.

There will be three stages at this year’s festival, and music will float throughout the park the entire day. The festival is free, but donations are accepted at the gate or online.

Inspired by the legend, Howard “Louie Bluie” Armstrong, this festival aims to bring together the strongest talent in the area that embodies the spirit of Louie Bluie. This festival celebrates Armstrong’s contribution to the arts and encourages musicians and artists to hone their own talents. With Campbell County's rich history in music, the festival is the perfect opportunity to honor Armstrong's legacy and keep the tradition of music alive.

This year’s festival will feature the Arts & Crafts Village, formerly known as the Maker’s Market.

The festival will feature the beloved Jamming Tent, back by popular demand! Musicians are invited to bring their stringed instruments and jam with some of the festival’s performers under a covered tent. Some of our talented performers will also lead impromptu music sessions that are sure to be unforgettable. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind event! Join us for a day filled with live music, Appalachian art, and unforgettable memories. Performers will be announced later on, so be sure to follow the festival’s Facebook page for updates. Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center: Blue Ribbon Country Fair

Category: Festivals, special events, History, heritage, Kids, family, Music and Science, nature

10 AM - 5 PM

Join us for a fall celebration in the tradition of old-time county fairs with all-around family fun for the whole family.

We will celebrate all that is good about an old-fashioned country fair with activities that include living history demonstrations of open hearth cooking, spinning, weaving, wood turning, blacksmithing and there will be livestock with cows, chickens, and goats.

Popular activities include historical games like Farmer in the Cove and the Ladies Skillet Throw. Farmer in the Cove is a hands-on experience for children to learn the chores of a typical farm family in the 19th century. Some of the ‘chores’ include picking apples, gathering eggs, sweeping the cabin porch, doing laundry by hand, corn shelling, and planting crops
