Old City Performing Arts Center: She Has a Tribe

Motivational poet Rhea Carmon will be performing with Coy Kindred, Liz Mitchell, Aneja Raiteri, and Shekita Driskill in She Has a Tribe, a choreopoem about the importance of sisterhood in life. The performance emphasizes the importance of art, poetry, and friendship in sustaining healthy bonds.
The event will be hosted at the Old City Performing Arts Center (111 State St. 37902) on Saturday, June 22nd at 7:00 pm

The Tennessean Hotel: UNI-Tea

In partnership with SoKno Pride, The Tennessean Hotel presents the inaugural UNI-Tea event on Saturday, June 22nd at 1 pm. Celebrating the diversity of our community and perfectly timed during Pride Month, UNI-Tea is a fun twist on traditional tea service, including tea and champagne-infused cocktails paired with tiered courses of traditional tea sandwiches, scones and assorted pastries. Attendees “spill the tea” at the event, enjoying live music, learning more about SoKno Pride and celebrating Pride Month together. In addition, throughout the month of June, The Tennessean’s Drawing Room serves up ALL OUT SANGRIA with proceeds from each cocktail sold directly benefiting SoKno Pride and its fundraising efforts.

Susan is the former project lead for the Pollinator Garden here at KBGA, tending the needs of the native plant landscape for the benefit of the critically important insects (bees, butterflies, moths and more!) that bring blooms and berries to so many of our beloved plants and food crops. Grab your favorite blanket or lawn chair and join the fun. Doors open at 6pm and movies begin at dark (Spring/Summer~ 9pm. Fall months ~8:15 pm; movie start times are not exact). Food trucks and the Ijams beer garden will have tasty meals, snacks, and beverages for purchase. NO COOLERS AND NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL PLEASE. Dogs are allowed, but must be on leash at all times. These events are on the Ijams Visitor Center lawn. In case of inclement weather, a rain plan will be posted on the event page on the Ijams Calendar of Events and social media outlets. Tickets are $12 per person; Ijams and Central Cinema Members $10 (Special ticket pricing of $18 per person for Terror in the Woods includes the haunted trail from FrightWorks.) Space is limited per screening. Purchasing tickets ahead of time is highly recommended. Walk-up tickets may not be available.

Tennessee Theatre: Deluxe Tours

Have you ever wondered how many light bulbs are in each chandelier in the Grand Lobby? How has the seating capacity changed over the years? What event attracted the biggest crowds? Which Broadway show brought 12 semi-trucks full of scenery, sets, and costumes? Learn these details and more about the history, performances, and complete renovation of the Official State Theatre of Tennessee. You’ll go to areas not usually open to the public and walk away with a better understanding and appreciation for this architectural and cultural gem.
Deluxe Tours last approximately 120 minutes and are offered on certain Saturdays throughout the summer. On this tour, you'll participate in an in-depth discovery of the Theatre’s rich history and comprehensive renovation, and its performances, past and present. In addition to the Grand Lobby, Auditorium, Stage, and Dressing Rooms, attendees will visit the projection booth and learn more about the theatrical equipment that brings the shows to life. Some areas are accessible only by stairs. Photography is permitted, but only with personal cameras/phones. Please arrive 15 minutes early so the tour can begin on time. While all are welcome, these tours are geared for attendees aged 12 & up.

Historic Ramsey House: Vintage Baseball

It's not too late to experience America’s game as it was played in 1864! This free public event is enjoying another season, and Historic Ramsey House is proud to be a part of this historic reenactment. The players play by 1864 rules, wear period uniforms and our local Knoxville teams bear the names of actual teams that existed in Knoxville during that time. The Knoxville Holstons and Emmett’s Machinists play other vintage league teams from around the state. Admission and Parking are Free! Concessions will be available.

Marble Springs State Historic Site: Unsung Heroines of the Revolutionary War Backcountry

Marble Springs State Historic Site continues its 2024 programming season with the next installment in its educational series, "Beyond Petticoats: Courage and Conviction in 18th-Century Women." This month's event, "Unsung Heroines: The Extraordinary Everyday Women of the Revolutionary War Backcountry," will take place on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024, featuring a lecture by Cari Welsh, an esteemed board member and integral part of Marble Springs' educational initiatives and historical reenactments.

Event Description: Marble Springs State Historic Site invites the public to attend the third event in the "Beyond Petticoats" series. This lecture, presented by Cari Welsh, will delve into the pivotal yet often overlooked roles of women in the backcountry during the American Revolutionary War. The lecture will explore the lives of figures such as Catherine Sherrill Sevier and other courageous women who navigated immense challenges, supported the revolutionary cause, and influenced the war effort and American society.
