Creative Arts Co-op: Murder a la Mode

It's that time of year again... another season of murder and mayhem and delicious desserts, of course. Our fourth season of Murder a la Mode is scheduled to begin with the throwback mystery 'Gumshoe Memoirs'. Step back to a time of dames, P.I.'s, trench coats, and smoking guns. This show is a little different from previous seasons, but just as entertaining.
'Gumshoe Memoirs' - June 12 & June 19. Please call for reservations as seating is limited. Tickets are still $20.00 per person and include dessert and the show.

Pre-ceremony reception and silent auction at 6:00 PM followed by the Induction Ceremony at 7:00 PM at the Tennessee Theatre. A Post-Induction Celebration Party takes places from 9:00-11:00 PM with heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, music, and the opportunity to celebrate first-hand with the new Class!

In memory of Kay Yow, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2009. Anyone interested in participating will need to submit a separate registration form $25 by visiting www.wbhof.com. Following the 4Kay will be an awards ceremony for all race participants as well as an autograph session with the Class of 2010. WBHOF will be open, free to the public, on Saturday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Campbell Culture Coalition: Louie Bluie Festival

The 4th Annual Louie Bluie Music & Arts Festival - Three stages will present an impressive all-day line up of nationally, regionally and locally-recognized string band musician and storytellers; plus arts and crafts "village"; children's activities; drama by Knoxville's Carpetbag Theatre; judged quilt and art exhibitions. Parking and admission is free. The festival honors Campbell County's incomparable Howard "Louie Bluie" Armstrong, nationally recognized for his accomplishments as a musician, artist, and storyteller. Headliners: Howard Armstrong Legacy with Ralphe Armstrong, Ray Kamalay, and Rich Del Grosso; Elijah Wald and Robbie Phillips: Wald is a folk-blues guitarist and music historian; Phillips is one of the greatest washtub bassists on record; John Myers Band: Soul & gospel; Five Stars Gospel Singers Sparky & Rhonda Rucker; The Tennessee Sheiks, starring Knoxville's own Nancy Brennan Strange. Thompson and Brown present duo concert “Standards, Ballads and the Bluesâ€

Trumpeter Vance Thompson (director of the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra) and pianist Keith Brown (youngest son of famed pianist Donald Brown) will present a special duo concert entitled “Standards, Ballads and the Blues.†The concert will take place Saturday, June 12 at 1pm at the American Piano Gallery, located at 11651 Parkside Drive in Farragut. Admission is free. The program will include classics from the Great American Songbook such as Easy Living, Let’s Fall in Love, Yesterdays , Just Friends and Our Love is Here to Stay, lesser known folk ballads such as He’s Gone Away and blues numbers Second Line and The Strollers.
