CTK Instructor Jennifer Loveday teaches this character work class for ages 6 - 10 year olds. Students will concentrate on understanding how to create an appropriate character for the stage. Students will focus on sustaining emotion and action throughout an entire scene. Games and exercises will be used to emphasize creativity. The instruction fee for this 7.5 hour workshop is
$150. Class size is limited to 18 students.

CTK Artistic Director Caroline King will prepare students to audition with confidence and poise. Students will focus on every aspect of auditioning: what to wear, finding the perfect monologue, introductions, confident vocal projection, and technique & execution. A great class for the young actor who wants a great part in a local or school play! Students provide copies of a monologue (or a few) he/she would like to work on. The instructor will help to decide the final piece. The instruction fee for this 7.5 hour workshop is $150 . Individualized instruction limits this class to 14 students.

Presenting HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD IN TEN MINUTES OR LESS. With the support of TN Arts Commission, this workshop/production is free to the public. The six day workshop is being taught by DOUGLAS STEWART, Ed.D, an author, playwright, director and performer. He is a board member of Senior Theatre USA, and an Honorary Board Member of the Santa Fe (New Mexico) Playhouse. His plays have won several competitive awards. His preferred themes are in the areas of social relations, global environment, and our rapidly changing cultural values and behaviors. He has conducted theater workshops for actors, directors, and playwrights in all three of these subject areas. His special interest and focus is in working in these areas with senior performers and playwrights. The workshop will be taught in day and evening sessions.

The plays will be performed November 12 & 13 at The Mason Jar, 1241 Armstrong Avenue, Knoxville. The workshop and performances are FREE but donations are appreciated.

It was just a few years ago that the soaring, anthemic sounds of Band of Horses' debut album, Everything All the Time, put music critics and fans into paroxysms of joy. We can relate, having watched the video for "The Funeral" numerous times this week. Touring this fall behind their new disc, Infinite Arms, the band continues to deliver country rock with an electric twist.

The Fall Festival is a family celebration of the harvest that will provide a unique venue for family friendly fun and celebrate slow foods and homegrown products. Mumbilly Fever

JCA presents the sixth annual Mumbilly Fever, an old-time party and jam hosted by the Mums themselves. Alleged to be the oldest continuing band in Knoxville, the Mumbillies have stuffed old-time fiddle tunes and banjo riffs into every crack in the Laurel Theater’s walls for the last quarter century or more. Aristotle, perhaps referring to the Mumbillies, said, “We become a certain quality in our characters on account of music.” Join us for a relaxed evening of Big String Band music and spontaneous fun. The Tennessee Valley Jazz & Blues Foundation presents the Hard Knox Blues Bash, a blues music festival which will showcase over five decades of Knoxville blues performers and provide a glimpse into the next generation when two youth bands perform at the opening of the Bash. The Bash will feature three of Knoxville’s most prominent blues bands over the last several decades: Labron Lazenby & LA3, Chico & The Men, and Relentless Blues. Each of these bands will perform with some special guests, the Hard Knox Blues All-Stars. Opening the Bash will be a high school-age band, The Harp Dogs and the eleven-year old blues sensation from Newport, Austin Crum and his family band.

Food and drink will be available from various vendors. No coolers or pets will be permitted in the Old City Courtyard, but those attending the Bash may bring folding chairs if desired.

Where: Old City Courtyard (behind Southbound Bar & Grill and beside Barleys’). Tickets are $5 before 5:00 pm and $7 after 5:00 pm. $2 for children ages 13-17, and Free for ages 12 and under. $4 for Brewer’s Jam bracelet wearers.
