Exhibiting together for the First time, a selection of five UT’s Visiting Artists showcase their most recent works in the group exhibition entitled Being There. Artists included John Bissonett, Can Birand, Nick DeFord, Pam Jorden & Michal Puszczynski. These five outstanding national & international artists will display wall-hung works alongside sculpture pieces produced within the last year. Working independently, each past or present UT Visiting Artists shows the variety of concepts and materials that drive their independent practices.

The Arts & Culture Alliance and Knox Heritage are pleased to present a new exhibition of twelve photographs by local artists as part of Knox Heritage’s Fifth Annual Art & Architecture Tour.
The Art & Architecture Tour Photographs will be displayed on the north side of the Balcony at the Emporium Center, 100 S. Gay Street, from June 3-24, 2011. An opening reception will take place as part of First Friday activities on June 3 from 5:00-9:00 PM with hors d’oeuvres. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM with additional hours on Saturday, June 4, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Arts & Culture Alliance: Expressions & Impressions: Works by Rickey A. Beene and Maya Simonson

“Expressions & Impressions†is a new exhibition of paintings by local artists Rickey A. Beene and Maya Simonson entitled “Expressions & Impressionsâ€, in the main gallery of the Emporium Center. Rickey A. Beene of Petros showcases acrylic paintings of the faces of the community with whom he has lived and worked during his lifetime; Maya Simonson of Morristown displays watercolor paintings of children that reflect a feeling of playfulness, naiveté, and ignorance within the characters and their surroundings. These artists’ works combine to create an insightful and colorful exhibition about the everyday joys and struggles of people of all ages.
An opening reception will take place as part of First Friday activities on June 3 from 5:00-9:00 PM with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and chocolate fondue from the Melting Pot.
