The RSCC Playmakers present The Foreigner by Larry Shue.
The setting-a fishing lodge in rural Georgia. The story-a frequent visitor to the lodge, Froggy, has brought along a friend, a pathologically shy young man named Charlie who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. Froggy tells all assembled that Charlie speaks no English. The fun begins as Charlie overhears more than he should.

Proceeds from the sale will support the museum's educational programs, which reach thousands of kindergarten through 12th grade students each year in East Tennessee.

The McClung Museum, 1327 Circle Park Drive, is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Free two-hour museum parking passes are available from the parking information building at the entrance to Circle Park Drive. Parking passes are not needed on the weekends.

The renowned actress's first foray into playwriting as family reminiscences developed into a complex, funny and moving portrait of a child's longing for the love of the inscrutable, daunting and charismatic Shakespearean actor who was her father. Acclaimed in America and Great Britain, Shakespeare for My Father weaves scenes from the Bard that delightfully coalesce with events in Ms. Redgrave's young life, eliciting memories of Sir Michael and engaging impressions of the celebrated stars who frequented the Redgrave's home and lives.

2013-2014 Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Season
November’s Masterworks concert is an all-Mozart concert, opening with Mozart’s Overture to Idomeneo. This will be followed by his Violin Concerto No. 4 where the Orchestra will be joined by world-renowned violinist Lara St. John. Playing the violin from the age of two, Lara first appeared as a soloist with orchestra at age four and since then she has recorded 10 albums, acquired her own record label and performed with orchestras around the word. Mozart’s A Musical Joke and his Symphony No. 31 conclude the program.

Monroe Area Council for the Arts (MACA) will present The Four Freshmen at the newly-renovated Hiwassee Performing Arts Center (HPAC) Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. The performance is sponsored by Volunteer Federal.

The Four Freshmen have enamored listeners world-wide for 65 years and have gained recognition as one of the most influential vocal groups of all time. They have inspired the likes of The Beach Boys, Kenny Rogers, The Mamas & The Papas, Frankie Valli, and countless others. Although the faces have changed through the years, the integrity of the sound created by the original four members has been meticulously maintained by its current lineup: Bob Ferreira, Brian Eichenberger, Curtis Calderon, and Vince Johnson.

Brian, Curtis, Vince and Bob have been performing together since 2001. Whether performing with a full symphonic orchestra, in front of a big band, or playing self-contained, their unmistakable sound continues to thrill audiences all over the world. Their repertoire includes a variety of pop and jazz standards from the Great American Songbook Classics. As the Wall Street Journal exclaims, “Long live The Four Freshmen. May they never graduate!”

The performance is included as part of MACA's annual perfromance series which also includes Molly Ringwald, Missoula Children's Theatre, Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks, and the Music of Sam Cooke. The Smoky Mountain Blues Society is presenting the 4th Annual Sara Jordan Birthday Party at the Well, 4620 Kingston Pike Knoxville. Net proceeds from this Annual concert benefit the Interfaith Health Clinic located at 315 Gill Avenue in Knoxville per Sara Jordan's wishes. Sara was a fabulous singer whose time came way too early. Sara Jordan passed away in 2001. She is still remembered locally and fondly as Knoxville's very own Queen of the Blues. She was a premier performer in the local blues community, singing in front of a few bands over approximately a decade including the Sara Jordan Project, and Sara Jordan and the Leftovers. Sara Jordan and the Leftovers played every Thursday night at Sassy Ann's (then known as Knoxville's House of the Blues) for what seemed like years.

The 2013 line up of bands is still being finalized but currently some great local talent lined up including:

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame will host an Art Show/Book Signing featuring award-winning photojournalist Robin Layton. The show will be held at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame on November 13th and 14th from 11:00 to 5:00 PM. In addition, on November 13th following the show, Robin will lead a photography class from 5:00-6:00 PM followed by a reception until 8:00 PM. The show is free of charge and is open to the public.

Robin Layton is an artist, filmmaker and has been an award-winning photojournalist for the past 25 years. At age 24, she was named one of the eight most talented photographers in America by LIFE magazine. Her documentary images have been featured by the Smithsonian and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Her newest book, "hoop, the american dream™" includes approximately 100 stunning photographs of a wide variety of American hoops including childhood hoops of Tamika Catchings, LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal, and Robin Roberts.

A portion of the proceeds from the art show and book sales at the Hall of Fame will benefit the Pat Summitt Foundation and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. In addition, special event posters will be on sale during the show with a portion of those proceeds also benefiting the Foundation and the Hall of Fame. All other sales of her book will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of America.
