Recent works by ceramic artist Pat Herzog and Artist Diana Dee Sarkar will be on display. An opening reception for the featured artists will begin at 5:30 p.m., June 3; with complimentary refreshments and music performed by Kevin Walters.

Patricia Herzog – Pat has been working as a professional clay artist since 1978 after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a Master of Science Degree in Ceramics. Her recent work reflects her continued interest in color, decoration, texture and function. Her ceramic forms are inspired by her travels and Tennessee surroundings with an emphasis on animal imagery, universal patterns in nature, and the art of ancient cultures. She hopes her work portrays a sense of humaneness in this otherwise digital world.

Diana Dee Sarkar - During her 34 years as a physician with a busy medical practice, Diana Dee found time to paint. She liked to paint portraits and landscapes of the people and places she encountered doing volunteer medicine in third world countries because she wanted to share these experiences with her patients back home. Thus began her life in art. This versatile artist, who works in various mediums, enjoys painting landscapes which include people and animals. She remained a self-taught artist until 2005 until she decided to obtain an art education. She began studying oil painting at Woodstock School of Art with Hongnian Zhang, and figure oil painting with Nelson Shanks, Anthony Ryder, and Warren Chang. She also trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. Diana completed her MFA in figure painting at the Academy of Art University in 2014. While at AAU, she has continued to study pastel landscape painting with Gil Dellinger, Susan Olgilvie, Kim Lordier, Lorenzo Chavez and Clark Mitchell.

The Side-By-Side Visual Arts Apprentice Program, now in its 20th year, pairs CSA students with professional artists in their studios for a period of four to six months each year. The stunning results will be displayed at Bennett Galleries & Company from May 31 - June 3, culminating in a Reception and Silent Auction on Friday, June 3, 5-8 PM. Admission is free, and catering will be provided by Echo. All proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Community School of the Arts.

The program is one of 50 Finalists across the country for the 2016 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards, as selected by the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities and its partner agencies— the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Side/By/Side is made possible through generous grants from Tennessee Arts Commission, East Tennessee Foundation, and the Bernau Family Foundation.

On May 31, Lost Creek Farm brings the foodways of north central West Virginia to Knoxville with an eclectic six-course spring menu. Spanish chorizo, Italian-style preserved peppers, and salt rising bread -- traditional victuals in many northern West Virginia communities -- find their way into modern dishes featuring wild harvested herbs and mushrooms, indigenous meats, and seasonal produce from small farms in West Virginia and the Tennessee Valley. Back in 2013, Mike Costello and Amy Dawson began restoring a historic family farm as the first step towards a longtime goal of producing foods inspired by time-honored cooking, preserving, and harvesting traditions. While their work to bring back the farmstead is far from finished, they have found their home at Lost Creek Farm. In addition to sharing meals across Appalachia, Mike and Amy are making Lost Creek Farm operational for the first time in decades. This year the farm will see production of heirloom vegetables, maple syrup, honey, rabbits, heritage poultry, and historic varieties of mountain apples. The Lost Creek Farm kitchen hit the road in 2015, showcasing farm-to-table, small plate dinners. In the coming months, Mike and Amy plan to launch Till and Forage, the mobile kitchen of Lost Creek Farm.

The Fountain Cty Art Center is proud to host the annual "Fountain City Art Guild's Spring Show and Sale". The
Guild now juries in both 2-D and 3-D artists. In addition to the Guild show, the Art Center is exhibiting a vibrant watercolor show with works by the students of Mary Baumgartner. The student show bears the same name as Mary's watercolor classes: "The Wonderful World of Watercolor."

The reception for both exhibits will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, May 20. Everyone is invited; no admission is charged. Light refreshments will be served.

Westminster Presbyterian Church's Schilling Gallery: Mixed media paintings by Donna Conliff and pottery and paintings by Anne Dally.

Donna Conliffe, a mixed media artist, uses layers of collage and paint, image transfers, found objects, metal, and words to create themes of growth and change. Anne Dally's ceramic work and paintings reflect her interest in outer space and the natural environment.

The Tennessee Watercolor Society (TnWS), founded in 1972, has represented the finest artists in the state for 44 years and hosts yearly juried exhibitions and biennial exhibitions. The biennial exhibition showcases 55 watermedia paintings chosen from nearly 200 entries. Juror John T. Salminen is a signature member of numerous art societies such as the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and recipient of more than 220 national and international awards. Prizes for the TnWS Biennial Exhibition total $10,000. A juried collection of 30 paintings from the exhibition will later travel across Tennessee into January 2017 to six locations for public and visual arts outreach, including Memphis, Humboldt, Columbia, Chattanooga, Elizabethton, and Clarksville.

The Town of Farragut Arts Council presents watercolor artist Joe Trout as the featured artist for May and June. Located at the Farragut Town Hall, the exhibit highlights Trout's paintings of nature and wildlife. An East Tennessee native and Lenoir City resident, Trout has been creating watercolor paintings for more than 40 years. His work masterfully depicts the incredible beauty of the area's landscapes - specifically the Great Smoky Mountains National Park - including its abundant wildflowers, lush greenery, gentle streams and tumbling waterfalls. Many of his watercolors are also inspired by the quiet beaches and low country of South Carolina and North Carolina's Outer Banks. Trout has participated in numerous one-man art shows, and his work is housed in collectors' homes in several states and countries.

Each month, the work of an artist or group of artists is featured in specially designed cases on the second floor of the rotunda in the Farragut Town Hall. FULL STOP is an elaborate, room-sized installation fabricated entirely of cardboard and ink by New York-based painter Tom Burckhardt. It takes the form of a mythical modern artist’s studio, complete with hundreds of lifelike tools, paint brushes, and other supplies, each painstakingly constructed of cardboard, the details rendered in ink with great attention to the smallest details. Organized by the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus, Ohio. Presenting sponsor for FULL STOP: Tom Burckhardt is McCarty, Holsaple, McCarty Architects and Interior Designers.
