Blue Heron Art Collective: Classes for Kids

  • January 13, 2021 — January 27, 2021

Category: Classes, workshops, Exhibitions, visual art and Kids, family

Online, live, interactive classes featuring how-to videos with art teachers Karen Bertollini and Betsy Hobkirk.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN JANUARY? Save your cardboard for this GREAT Session! It’s all about recycling, constructing and ART! Hang on to cardboard boxes such as packaging, food boxes, any sort of roll, and cardboard egg cartons to prepare for this class.

One of the most important elements of our Sessions is our How-To videos. Our students can watch these videos at their own pace during the 3-week session. Our videos are intended to guide creative thought, rather than show specific step by step instruction. As educators, it is important to us that students create their OWN art, rather than what we think they should do. Our philosophy is to teach for artistic behavior, referred to as CHOICE.
Safe art tool usage is very important to us as well. When needed, we include age appropriate safety videos. Learn more at www.artblueheron.com or artblueheron@gmail.com

HoLa Hora Latina: Three Kings' Toy Giveaway Celebration

Category: Exhibitions, visual art, Festivals, special events, Fine Crafts, Free event and Kids, family

Monday-Friday 11 AM - 4 PM

To celebrate Three Kings Day, Casa HoLa will be giving each child a FREE toy (while supplies last) and an educational coloring page book beginning with our upcoming First Friday event on Friday, January 8th 5-8PM at the Casa HoLa store! The toy giveaway will continue throughout the month of January during regular weekday hours to reduce the likelihood of crowds. Weekday hours can be found at our website www.holahoralatina.org/contact and on the HoLa Hora Latina Google page. Toys are for CHILDREN ONLY and are limited to one gift per child. Each child will also receive a fun coloring page book to learn about the meaning of Three Kings Day. As always, we will be selling delicious chicken tamales TO-GO. The Casa HoLa is located inside of the Emporium for the Arts building on Gay Street and features artisan crafts, jewelry, home décor, and accessories handmade by local and Latinx artists.

We ask that only one household enter the store at a time, so please enjoy the art included in the Emporium's Art and Culture Alliance Members' show just outside our door while you wait to enter Casa HoLa. Both Casa HoLa and the Emporium for the Arts take great care to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for our guests by requiring all visitors to wear a mask, limiting the number of persons inside the building, prohibiting the consumption of food and beverages inside, providing ample hand sanitizing stations, and increasing cleaning measures. Casa HoLa is located inside the Emporium for the Arts in Suite 112 at 100 S. Gay St, Knoxville TN 37902. For inquiries, please call 865-335-3358 or email us at casahola@holafestival.org.
