It’s quite simple. Junie B. was born in the month of June, so she goes by Junie. She doesn’t like her middle name, Beatrice, so it’s just B. She wears a ribbon in her hair, and glasses on her nose. At almost six years old, Junie B. is in kindergarten - room nine. But most importantly, Junie B. has a big problem, and it’s one she intends to do something about!

This heartfelt children’s play follows Junie B. Jones as she tracks down the thief who stole her favorite, furry mittens. While investigating, she stumbles upon a very colorful pen on the ground and decides to keep it for herself, because finders keepers, losers weepers! Besides, there is a handsome new boy at school that she is looking to impress. That is, as long as she can keep her friends Grace and Lucille away from him! Teaching classic themes of friendship, honesty and growing up, this tale is full of laughs and lessons to learn.

Based on the best-selling, children’s book-series by Barbara Park, JUNIE B. JONES IS NOT A CROOK has been adapted by Allison Gregory to combine two of Park’s beloved books, bringing her innocent stories to the stage. But is Junie B. innocent or just misunderstood? Decide for yourself as she gets herself in and out of trouble, navigating the ups and downs of school and adolescence. This play is a wonderful reminder of just how fantastical a child’s mind can be. Chloe Ellis can be seen playing Junie B. and she agrees that, ‘there are so many sides to her and she has such a big imagination!’

KMA’s Family Fun Day will celebrate the art of Radcliffe Bailey (born 1968) in conjunction with the exhibition Passages (August 12-November 6, 2022). Bailey works primarily in sculpture and incorporates found objects and photographs, bringing together stories of his own family’s journey through history, ancestry, migration, and memory. Join us for hands-on art projects inspired by the artist accompanied by music, storytelling, and a variety of family entertainment. Free and open to the public!
