Vanilla Ice with Jaystorm Project and DJ Eric B
Category: Music
DCB Entertainment is proud to present VANILLA ICE live in concert with special guests Jaystorm Project and Hot 104.5’s DJ Eric B. The show will be held on Saturday, May 8 at the new Clayton Center for Performing Arts in Maryville. Vanilla Ice’s hit song, “Ice Ice Baby,†is one of the top selling hip hop singles of all time. Initially released as the B-side to “Play That Funky Music,†the single catapulted Vanilla Ice to instant fame after a disc jockey unintentionally played the wrong track and audiences went wild. To the Extreme, the album on which both tracks appeared, was the first hip hop record to hit number one on the Billboard charts, and sold over eleven million copies.
Ice’s iconic style, fights with other hip hop and rap artists, and run-ins with the law landed him on the front of magazines and tabloids throughout the early nineties. In 1994, after a massive drug overdose, the artist decided that he needed to take control of his image and music. He dropped his record label and went independent, focusing on a blend of metal and hip hop that he calls “Molten Hip Hop.†While largely out of the spotlight with the exception of appearances on reality shows like “The Surreal Life,†Vanilla Ice has maintained a significant fanbase with his new music and tours regularly in support of it. The show will be opened by The Jaystorm Project, who create a hybrid of high-energy rock, funk, hip-hop and soul and are past winners of the Metro Pulse “Best of Knoxville†reader poll. Hot 104.5’s DJ Eric B will also appear and will present a video deejay set. Following Vanilla Ice’s performance, a VIP after party will be held in the Clayton Center’s Grand Foyer. This catered event will be hosted by Knoxville’s Bliss Entertainment, with DJ Jason Lovely mixing the hottest top 40 and dance tunes. An Ice Ice Baby karaoke contest will take place during the after party as well. At the Clayton Center for Performing Arts, Maryville Tennessee. Tickets are $19/$26/$39 (VIP) plus applicable service charges. The $39 VIP ticket includes a catered VIP after party with prizes and an Ice Ice Baby Karaoke contest. Tickets are available now via the following sources: www.claytonartscenter.com, 865-656-4444; in person at Clayton Center Box Office and all Tickets Unlimited Outlets.
