Ramsey House: Annual Christmas Candlelight Tours

Touring this magnificent historic mansion in the ambience of candlelight is bound to boost your holiday spirit. You’ll also enjoy traditional holiday décor of all natural materials recalling Christmases of long ago. Seasonal music, hot drinks, and baked goods will be available for guests, and there will also be baked goods for sale. Reduced holiday rates for Christmas tours are $5.00 per person; children age 11 and under free.

Bijou Theatre: A Very Merry Neighborly Christmas featuring Dave Barnes and Drew Holcomb

Knoxville Botanical Garden: Trees4TwoNationsd

Join us for a brunch reception and ceremonial tree planting in honor of Trees4TwoNations. The event is hosted by The Scottish Government's Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment Richard Lochhead, Trees4Scotland, and the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum.
Trees4Scotland was founded in 2008 and is dedicated to planting native permanent woodlands in Scotland. The Knoxville Botanical Garden has begun a relationship with Trees4Scotland to promote the efforts of both organizations and to reaffirm the importance of trees to our world.

Winter Wonder exhibition by Hallah John Paul Boltik

Hallah Art Presents “Winter Wonderâ€, a collection of new work by Hallah John Paul Boltik, and featuring original Hallah Art pendants created by Headstock Studios in Asheville, NC. "Winter Wonder" opens with a reception on Friday December 3rd, 7:30-10:30pm at 5201 Kingston Pike Suite 7 Knoxville, TN. The exhibit runs from December 3rd through December 31st.
Self taught fine artist, Hallah John Paul Boltik, specializes in abstract floralism and disappearing wilderness landscapes. He works primarily with oils and acrylics on canvas and wood incorporating three dimensional and carving techniques in his work. “Hallahâ€, as his works are signed, also paints on reclaimed materials including wood, slate, brick, stone and tile.

Monroe Area School for the Performing Arts: Handel’s Messiah

The Monroe Consort and soloists from the Monroe Area Opera will be performing Handel's oratorio "The Messiah" on Saturday December 4th and Sunday December 5th. The Saturday performance will be at 7:30 PM in the Sanctuary of Keith Memorial Methodist Church, 600 Madison Avenue in Athens. The Sunday performance will be at 3:00 PM in the Brown Intermediate School Auditorium, 135 Sterrett Street, Sweetwater. All tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. A special performance for area public school students will take place at Brown Intermediate School at 12:30 on Friday December 3rd. The performers will be wearing 18th Century costumes. Soloists include Sopranos Nancy Owens and Savannah Roberts, Countertenor Kyle Renfro, Mezzo-sopranos Judy Maiuri and Laura Laurence, Tenor Grae Taylor and Bass Josh Gettinger. Dr. Douglas H. Manley will accompany and Dr. Karel J. Bouse will conduct.
