A1 LabArts and The Center for Creative Minds is happy to announce Fruit of the Vine: Art from the personal collections of John Fairstein and Ardyce Lee. The exhibition, which will run from April 6-14, will showcase paintings, drawings, sculpture and photographs by artists from East Tennessee and Ohio, all in the collection of Fairstein and Lee.
Opening Reception - Friday April 6, 6-10pm, show runs through April 14, 2012.

UT Gardens Plant Sale

Spring is in the air, and now is the time to shop for some unique and cutting-edge plants for your garden. We have the new Drift Roses that are disease free and flower all summer. These roses grow only 1.5 feet tall and 3 feet wide. We also have the new Itoh peonies that produce up to 50 blooms! There will also be an incredible selection of native and hybrid azaleas and viburnums.
The University of Tennessee Gardens is holding its spring plant sale on Saturday, April 7, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A preview sale will be held on Friday, April 6, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. for all UT employees, Gardens volunteers, and Friends of the UT Gardens. Friends will also receive a 10 percent discount on all purchases.
If you are not yet a Friend of the Gardens, you will be able to sign up for a membership at the preview sale and receive the member discount on plants.
All proceeds will benefit the UT Gardens. The sale will be located at the UT Gardens on the UT agriculture campus in Knoxville located on Neyland Drive adjacent to the UT Veterinary Hospital.

Cirque du Soleil: Quidam

Cirque du Soleil is pleased to announce that the critically-acclaimed production Quidam will be performing in Knoxville.
Quidam had its world premiere in Montreal under the Big Top in April 1996. Since that time, the production has toured on five continents and been experienced by millions of people. The international cast features 52 world-class acrobats, musicians, singers and characters.

Mike C. Berry will exhibit his original work during the month of April at the Räla store located at 323 Union Ave, next to Market Square in downtown Knoxville. His work consists of colorful cityscapes with bending and twisting perspectives, often featuring local Knoxville city streets and landmarks. Mike’s work has been featured on Pilot billboards, and he has received commissions from the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Blaine Construction, and the University of Tennessee. Along with his original work, he will also have giclee prints and greeting cards.
Räla is a shop of regional and local artisan wares. Part shop, part gallery: a "shoppery"! We specialize in creative gifts for creative people. Paintings, ceramics, textiles, candles, books, cards and prints are a few of the items we carry at Räla. Merchandise is constantly changing. A new artist is featured at every First Friday event.

Dogwood Arts Festival: Nexus 2012

Dogwood Arts Festival’s newest exhibition, NEXUS, is an indoor collection of contemporary sculptures by regional and national artists. Noted performance sculptor and curator, Allen Peterson, presently at SCAD-Atlanta, is the Juror for NEXUS 2012! The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. on April 6 at the U.T. Downtown Gallery, 106 South Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902.

University of Tennessee Downtown Gallery: Nexus 2012

As one of the Dogwood Arts Festival’s feature exhibits, NEXUS, showcases national and international artists working in contemporary sculpture and 3-D media. Indoor sculptures comprising all styles and genres from emerging and established artists will be selected by internationally recognized juror, Allen Peterson, for exhibition at the University of Tennessee's Downtown Gallery. This year, the chair of the NEXUS exhibition committee is Brian R. Jobe.

Crescent Bend House & Gardens: Riverboat Luncheon Cruises

The cruise will board the Star of Knoxville Riverboat at Volunteer Landing in downtown Knoxville. Guests can enjoy a delicious lunch on the way to Crescent Bend. Upon arrival guest will have an hour to tour the house and gardens. Coffee and desert will be served on the return trip. Fountain City Art Guild: Spring Show and Sale

Spring at the Fountain City Art Center kicks off with a reception open to the public, Friday, March 30, 6:30 – 8:00 PM. The reception marks the beginning of the Annual Fountain City Art Guild Spring Show and Sale. The show will be judged by Harriet Howell. Awards will be given out at 7:00 PM.
This show will be on exhibit through April 27, as always no admission fee for the viewing public. Also on exhibit through April 27, artwork by students from the Halls area!

Children’s Theatre of Knoxville: Matilda

Children’s Theatre of Knoxville will present a live stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic 1988 novel â€Matilda,†for 13 performances, Thursdays through Sundays from March 30 to April 15.
