Appalachian Ballet Company 40th Anniversary Celebration

The Appalachian Ballet Company will present their 40th anniversary celebration at the Clayton Center for the Arts featuring several short ballets from the past 40 years. The evening will be a reflection of the past including comedic and classic ballets and conclluding with a new ballet, "Coat of Many Colors", created by Amy Morton with special permission from Dolly Parton. Robinella, a local muscian and vocalist is assisting Ms. Morton with additional music and will narrate the ballet. Ms. Morton is using traditional gospel and folk music from the 1950's (and earlier) to enhance the ballet.

Ticket for both performances are $22 & $17 for Adults and $17 and $12 for Students and Seniors.

Farragut Art in the Park

The Farragut Business Alliance and Town of Farragut have again partnered to present Farragut Art in the Park, an official Dogwood Arts Festival event. This celebration of art is a plein air - or open air - painting event from 9am-4pm on Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd with a Gallery Reception and Art Sale at Farragut's Red Line Gallery, from 7-9pm on Friday, April 27th. The reception will be catered by Season's Cafe. Farragut Art in the Park is a juried event with prizes awarded to Best in Show, First Place and Second Place.

The public is invited to observe the artists creating their works at some of Farragut’s favorite locations; including Campbell Station Park, Mayor Bob Leonard Park, Anchor Park, Farragut Town Hall/Farragut Memorial Plaza, Historic Pleasant Forest Cemetery, Old Concord, and Bridgemore Boulevard.

This year's event will also see the addition of on-site musicians and mini-lesson provided by Farragut's Allied Music Instructors music school. Jubilee Community Arts: Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe

Louisiana Zydeco
Troy Carrier grew up in Church Point and Lawtell, Louisiana and learned his music playing with his father Roy Carrier and his brother Chubby. He later played with C.J. Chenier’s Red Hot Louisiana Band. Today he has his own zydeco dance band, Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe, and they have been pleasing dance crowds from Maine to Florida. Dikki Du sings lead and plays accordion, joined by Neal Carrier on scrub board, Raymand Randall on guitar, Paul Newman on bass and Greg Gordon on drums. Their most recent CD is Straighten It Out.
