Category: Film

One of British cinema's most enduring and atmospheric film noirs, The Third Man has been hailed as a cinematic masterpiece. The title resides among numerous Top 100 Greatest Films lists including the American Film Institute (AFI), AMC's Filmsite, IMDB, and more. Starring Joseph Cotten & Orson Welles, The Third Man finds pulp novelist Holly Martins traveling to shadowy, postwar Vienna, only to find himself investigating the mysterious death of an old friend, black-market opportunist Harry Lime. Renowned film critic Roger Ebert praises the classic saying, "Of all the movies I have seen, this one most completely embodies the romance of going to the movies." Don't miss a moment of this endlessly rewatchable classic on Friday, July 27 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July, 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

"The Dixie Swim Club" by Jones, Hope and Wooten
Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. “The Dixie Swim Club” focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years.

The Last Friday Art Walk is a recurring event to celebrate the arts on the last Friday of every month in Downtown Maryville. What's unique about it is that it's not just galleries participating. It's also businesses like bars, retail stores, restaurants, theaters, and coffee shops. Each participating business hosts a "featured artist," this includes all disciplines of art; visual arts, performance artists, actors, writers, dancers, musicians, etc. New artists and new art are required each month, which gives the community a new experience each time they come.

Presented by the Maryville Arts Coalition. Information: http://www.maryvilleartwalk.com or http://www.facebook.com/pages/Maryville-Last-Friday-ArtWalk/101193813269860
