  • 7:00PM

Category: Comedy, Festivals, special events and History, heritage

The scene is set, the big stone fireplace is crackling with a warm fire and four of the area’s most entertaining individuals will gather together on one stage to present a holiday version of their “Talk is Cheap Tour” at the Museum of Appalachia on Friday, November 30 at 7:00pm .

East Tennessee’s most talented storytellers, Bill Landry, Sam Venable, Elizabeth Rose and Jim Claborn will offer an inviting mixture of humor, heart and holiday fun as seen through their eyes, reminiscences, and observations. These four come together from a diverse background. A newspaper columnist, television personality, middle school principal, and a retired schoolteacher in their everyday lives are transformed on stage into classic presenters of life in East Tennessee both in stories and ballads.

The “Talk is Cheap Tour” will be held in the intimate setting of the Museum of Appalachia’s Heritage Hall. Tickets are $20, seating is limited. The Museum is located at 2819 Andersonville Hwy., Clinton, TN 37716 To purchase tickets call the Museum at 494-7325 or go to www.museumofappalachia.org.

Clayton Center for the Arts: "The Sniper's Nest"

Category: Theatre

November 29-December 2, 2012
Haslam Family Flexible Theatre
Maryville College Theatre Department Presents "The Sniper's Nest" by Lisa Soland

Lisa Soland's new play "The Sniper's Nest" dramatizes the real life love affair between double agent Lee Harvey Oswald and young scientist Judyth Baker during the summer of 1963 in New Orleans. Sparks fly as the two team up in a dark tale of espionage, still, to this day, kept secret from the public for reasons much more sinister than covering up an assassination of a president.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, MC Theatre alumni and area students. Free for MC students, faculty and staff, although a printed ticket is required for admission. Tickets are on sale now.
For more information contact the Clayton Center Box Office at (865) 981-8590.

UT Downtown Gallery: Senior Capstone Exhibition

EXHIBITION DATES
November 27 - November 30, 2012

RECEPTION
Friday, November 30, 2012
6-9pm

The Capstone course is a requirement for all BFA Studio Art majors. Students take Capstone in the final semester of their BFA degree. During Capstone students engage in a self-initiated research project to demonstrate that a graduating senior has learned and can practice the skills and concepts of a chosen concentration (2D, 3D, 4D). The Capstone also demonstrates the student's ability to intellectualize and articulate issues and ideas about contemporary art. Successful completion of the Capstone course is a requirement of graduation.

The UT Downtown Gallery is excited to present the work of 5 graduating seniors in this year's capstone exhibition: Sarah Crumley, Bill Warden, Kayla Courtoy, Catherine Widner and David Holland.

GALLERY HOURS
Wed - Fri 11-6PM, Sat 10-3PM

For additional information on this exhibition, please call the UT Downtown Gallery at 865.673.0802 or visit us online at http://web.utk.edu/~downtown.
