Marble Springs: "Shopping at the Farm" Farmers Market

Marble Springs State Historic Site is proud to present the 3nd Season of ‘Shopping at the Farm’ – the Marble Springs Farmer’s Market for our South Knoxville community. The market will be held Thursdays beginning on May 9 & continuing weekly to November. All vendors will be selling fresh, locally-produced products including sauces, seasonal produce, herbs, perennial plants and more!

Foothills Community Players present "Nunsense" by Dan Goggins

Dubbed “A lively ‘nun-stop’ musical,” by the New York Times, “Nunsense” concerns the comic misadventures of five nuns—ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert— who try valiantly and with much hilarity to stage a talent show to raise some emergency funds for their convent.

Candoro Marble Building Busseni Dinner

This is a spring fundraising dinner for the preservation and restoration of the beautiful Candoro Marble Building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The 1920 beaux arts structure is commonly referred to as the "jewel of the marble city." Today, the building serves as the cornerstone of the Vestal neighborhood of South Knoxville. It is a place where citizens enjoy yoga, life drawing classes, and the wildly-popular South Knox Arts & Heritage festival entitled VESTIVAL, which takes place on May 11.

Chef Vincenzo Vecchione will be assisted by Keith Bradley, manager of DaVinci's restaurant in Knoxville's Old City. At this time, Chef Vecchione is planning to hold the dinner outdoors, weather permitting. In case of bad weather, the dinner will be moved indoors.

The Busseni Dinner is $125 per person

Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra: Free Concert in Market Square

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will perform “Symphony on the Square,” a free family-friendly concert on the Market Square stage in downtown Knoxville. This concert is free and open to the public. Musical selections include works by Gershwin, Rossini and original composition by our own Lucas Richman. Guest vocalist Daniel Webb will join the Orchestra for Rossini’s “Largo ad Factotum” from The Barber of Seville and “God Bless America.”

Steve will talk about the digital offerings of the McClung Collection, and in particular, highlight the George F. Barber Collection. Young at HeART Art Group Exhibition

The senior adult Young at HeART art group from Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church will display their work in May at the Farragut Town Hall. A public reception will be held on Sunday, May 19.

Public Reception: Sunday, May 19 - 2 to 3 p.m.

The art show and reception are free and open to the public.

Art Guild at Fairfield Glade: Stormy Weather Exhibition

May’s themed art exhibit is titled “Stormy Weather”. Visit us to view how members of the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade interpret this theme.

Once a month, the PCAC gallery exhibit changes, so monthly visits are advantageous for viewing quality artwork, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastels, colored pencil, photography, mixed media, and 3-D work, including pottery, sculpture, and jewelry. The gallery is also a perfect place to shop for one-of-a-kind decorations or gifts at reasonable prices. PCAC visitors not only enjoy the latest gallery exhibit, they also learn about the many art classes and day trips offered by the Art Guild. In addition, visitors often get to see a class in progress or watch the open painting, beading, or figure drawing sessions taking place in the art studio.

Opening First Friday, May 3, 2 Many Pixels photo gallery is proud to present a collection of photographs by young artist Jake Wheeler. The work (more than 40 large format images) depicts urban decay and the distress of individuals coping with adversity. The images are mounted on reclaimed plywood, emphasizing a sense of deterioration. The photographs are all for sale, gallery archival prints, signed and numbered by the artists.
