Marble Springs: John Sevier Days Living History Weekend

Marble Springs State Historic Site will be hosting a weekend of Living History in celebration of the life and times of the first governor of Tennessee, John Sevier, in commemoration of his 268th birthday. John Sevier Days Living History Weekend will take place Saturday, September 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. & Sunday, September 22, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can expect to enjoy 18th century demonstrations such as open-hearth cooking; spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, weapons demonstrations, which will showcase tomahawks and period-appropriate firearms; 18th century style militia drills; regional craft demonstrations, historic lectures and more! The Nolichucky Pictures production of the award-winning The Mysterious Lost State of Franklin will be on view through the weekend. Food, drinks, and special treats will be available. Details are subject to change.

Admission: $5.00 per adult (16+); $3 per child (7-15); 6 and under FREE; Parking is free. All proceeds benefit the mission of preservation and education of the Marble Springs State Historic Site.

Historic Ramsey House: 49th Annual Country Market

For the 49th time Historic Ramsey House is bringing family fun to it’s Country Market on Saturday September 21, 2013 from 10am-4pm located on the Ramsey House grounds at 2614 Thorn Grove Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914. Admission is $5 per adult; children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. Historic Home tours are $5 per person.
Enjoy antiques, quality crafts, children’s activities, horse drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, old fashioned ice cream cobblers and great food will be available for your pleasure. In addition there will be nursery plants and flowers as well grass fed beef available from Strong Stock Farm. Truly something for everyone!

The Hola Festival is a family oriented day long celebration of latin diversity and culture. The festival is know for its rich mix of music, dance, food, arts, tradition, crafts, and its unique Parade of Nations. The conutries and heritage exibits provide for a one of a kind educational experience. Children are very important to Latino families and a central part of the HoLa festival involves activities for them. Performers include a well balanced mix of different music styles, demonstrations of traditional dances, and public-engaging classes such as Salsa, Tango and more. The Community Fair section offers an important opportunity for non-profit organizations to share important information with the community. Admission is free.

Arts In The Park: Art In The Heart of Hamblen County

Arts In The Park, “Art In The Heart of Hamblen County,†a visual and performing arts event, will be celebrated on Saturday, September 21, 2013, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Park, located at 350 West Ninth North Street, Morristown, Tennessee.
Local music and theater groups will perform on two stages and throughout the park. Artists, special guest artist Paul DeMarrais of Kingsport, and performers will be announced prior to the event. Fine art, live performances, roving musicians, food and refreshments, demonstrations, an art walk, sidewalk chalk art, and hands-on children’s art activities will be a part of the festival. Admission is free. Arts In The Park is an event of the Morristown Art Association, Morristown Parks and Recreation, and Rose Center Council For The Arts.

Wallace Baumann Memorial Theatre Organ Concert Featuring Jelani Eddington

During the years that Jelani Eddington has given concerts, he has easily established himself as one of the most prominent and sought-after artists on the theatre organ concert circuit. Jelani has performed in most of the major concert venues throughout the United States, has toured extensively abroad, and has received numerous awards and recognitions, including his selection as the 2001 Theatre Organist of the Year. Jelani has also produced and marketed over 30 theatre organ albums on some of the best-known and most dynamic instruments in the country. He has recorded on the Tennessee Theatre Mighty Wurlitzer organ, and this recording along with his other recordings will be available after his concert at the Tennessee Theatre.
Admission is $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for seniors (over age 60) and students.

Elvis and Conway Tributes & Karli Kravat at the Palace Theater in Maryville, TN;
The Elvis and Conway Tribute Show along with Karli Kravat will feature some of the best entertainers in the area along with some of the top Elvis Presley Tribute Artists in the country. Ronnie Miller will be performing as Elvis Presley. Doug Thompson will perform as Conway Twitty. Doug is also an Elvis Tribute Artist and he will join Ronnie Miller as a double dynamite Elvis tribute to conclude the show. Karli Kravat, a local phenomenon, will be the guest star. Each artist will perform for thirty minutes in a stage show style performance piece. Multi-award winning tribute artist, Ronnie Miller, will perform as The King of Rock n Roll for forty five minutes in a 70’s performance type spectacle.

Knoxville Children's Theatre: Disney's Mulan

The musical play is based on the 1998 film Mulan by Walt Disney Pictures. Mulan is set in China during the Han Dynasty. The film's title character, Fa Mulan, is the only daughter of aged warrior Fa Zhou. She impersonates a man and takes her father's place during a general conscription to counter a fictitious Hun invasion led by Shan Yu. Along with her guardian dragon Mushu, her captain, Li Shang, a lucky cricket, "Cri-kee," and her companions, Yao, Ling, and Chien-Po, she battles the invading Hun army.

In recognition and commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Civil War, the 2013 Knoxville Film Festival presents The Battle Cry of Freedom Student Filmmaking Competition. This film competition is open to currently-enrolled college and high school students. The competition will have two divisions: college and high school. The subject matter of the films must focus on the human issues and events, both political and personal, created during The Civil War in the United States 1861 – 1865. The films can be no longer than 20 minutes and no shorter than five minutes. The film’s presentation can be either documentary or original narrative in style. Tennessee Film competition recognizes the films produced in Tennessee and the filmmakers from Tennessee.
The 2013 Knoxville Film Festival 7-Day Shootout gives filmmakers 7 days to make a 7-minute film. The 7-Day Shootout provides ample time to let your creativity flow to write, shoot and edit a MASTERPIECE! The 7-Day Shootout will take place August 21-28, 2013. All films submitted by the deadline, will screen at the 2013 Knoxville Film Festival on Saturday, September 21 at Regal Downtown West Cinema 8. Films created for the 7-Day Shootout in previous years have gone on to screen and WIN at other film festivals! Tennessee Film competition recognizes the films produced in Tennessee and the filmmakers from Tennessee. Sponsored by Tennessee Film, Entertainment, and Music Commission.
Children’s programming, taking place Saturday, September 21 from 10:00-11:45am is free to the public and features a new program called Peg + Cat, provided by East Tennessee PBS.
