The Walking Tour of Ghostly Knoxville
Come and join the spirits for a tour of Downtown Knoxville’s scariest landmarks. The tours which last approximately one and a half hours each, will visit the sites of some of Knoxville’s best kept secrets. Stories for this year include; the legend of Knoxville’s own Frankenstein, Knoxville’s first mass murderer, John Roberts, and the Spirit of the Tennessee Theatre. This year’s tour will also include the story of “Hank’s Last Ride” and will be about one and a half miles in length. All tours began and end at James White’s Fort located at the intersection of Hill Avenue and Hall of Fame Drive. Ample free parking is available for tour participants at the Fort.

Tours are given October 17th, 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th, 29th & 30th. Tours will depart at 7:00 p.m. each evening. Each tour will end with a marshmallow roast around the fires at the Fort. Admission for Adults 16 and over will be $10.00 and $6.00 for children ages 6–15. Reservations are requested for large groups of 12 or more and may be made by calling the Fort at 525–6514.

The duo Mandolin Orange, hailing from North Carolina, delicately intertwine gospel, folk, and bluegrass to form songs of love and loss, told honest and bare.

East Tennessee native Leah Gardner sings traditional ballads, blues and her own songs. Her compositions are influenced by Appalachian ballads, old-time, classic bluegrass and country, early R&B, and years of playing with a range of fine folks in and around Knoxville. She has performed at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion Festival, Bonaroo, Nashville’s Loveless Café and the Ryman Auditorium, Tennessee Shines, and several times here at the Laurel Theater. Leah will be joined by Seth Hopper on trumpet and violin.

Tickets, if available, will be for sale at the door for $12.

Since 1993, and years before the resurgence of downtown, Alive After Five has been attracting people to Knoxville from the Knox County periphery and surrounding counties to enjoy live music, food, spirits, and art in the casually elegant atmosphere of the Knoxville Museum of Art. The early Friday evening program has been a great way to wind down from the work week or to start the weekend or both. Mostly showcasing the rich treasure trove of local and regional musical talent, Alive After Five has also presented acts from New Orleans, Boston, Dallas, Canada, Peru, France, Japan, Australia, and more. Food is available from a variety of area restaurants or caterers, and there are two cash bars.

Comedy at the Grove is back for it's second edition of bringing laughter to Oak Ridge! This show is guaranteed to make you laugh and possibly even pee a little (but please don't! Danny Whitson - Hometown boy from Oak Ridge. You may have seen this comic perform throughout the Southeast, including Atlanta, Asheville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. He's been known for mesmerizing you with his magical skills and possibly even judging you for your eyebrow shaping etiquette.

Headlining: Josh Phillips - Oak Ridge native, professional full time comedian for eight years. He has performed for the troops here and overseas, he's been on the Paula Deen Network...blah blah blah...He will be starring in an Up and coming reality show on the History Channel.

The Athens Area Council for the Arts presents Ruth Moody Band, headed by critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, Ruth Moody, on Friday, October 17, 2014, at 7:30 pm. Ruth Moody Band is part of the 2014-2015 Black Box Concert Series that takes place at The Arts Center at 320 North White Street, Athens, Tennessee. All Black Box Concert Series Events are sponsored by Tennessee Wesleyan College. All AACA programs are supported by the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Ruth Moody has performed in sold-out venues around the world, made numerous critically acclaimed albums, and has appeared more than a dozen times on the American national radio show A Prairie Home Companion.
Although best known for her work with The Wailin’ Jennys, Moody is an artist of exceptional depth and grace in her own right. Critics have lauded her ethereal vocals, impressive multi-instrumentalism, and her talent as a songwriter. Written with a maturity and wisdom that belies her age, her songs are timeless, universal, carefully crafted, and sung with an intimacy and honesty that is unmistakably her own.

Concert-goers who purchase a series ticket package save at least 20%. A family series ticket package (immediate family only) is $115, a couple’s ticket package is $72, and an individual ticket package is $36. Individual tickets ($15/ adult and $8/student) may be purchased by phone, online, at The Arts Center, or at the door prior to performances, pending availability.
