Category: Classes, workshops
Sundress Academy for the Arts is hosting a screative writing workshop on Saturday, August 6th, 2016 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Hard Day's Journey Into Night, and really anything by Ernest Hemingway: some of the finest works in the literary canon—all created by authors who were under the influence.
It's no secret that many writers tend to have a fondness for spirits, and no writer will deny that it sometimes takes a little liquid courage to get the creative juices flowing. So, to help dissolve any writer's block you may have or just to provide you with a fresh, light-hearted perspective, Sundress Academy for the Arts is hosting a Cocktails and Creative Writing workshop that will foster your confidence in both fields in just three hours.
Attendees will kick-off the workshop by learning how to make three of the most written about cocktails while discussing each beverage's literary significance. After each cocktail has been crafted and tasted, attendees will then generate original prose both inspired and influenced by the beverage they've just consumed.
Cocktails and Creative Writing will take place in Oak Ridge, TN from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday August 6th and will include drinks and snacks as well as writing instruction from noted author and spirits writer, Sam Slaughter. Cost for participation in the workshop is $50, but for just $10 more, attendees can enjoy a home-cooked meal from our Creative Director, Erin Elizabeth Smith.
