This FREE family event is packed with art-making stations, artist demonstrations, face painting, continuous entertainment on stage, glass blowing, a magic show, gallery tours, and live music. Enjoy snacks for purchase from Dave’s Dogs. Listen to the music of “David and the Dinosaurs” throughout the day. Watch as Johnny Glass demonstrates glass blowing in the North Garden. And be amazed as Danny Gillette of Royal Magic Events performs a magic show at 12:30pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Second Annual Emory Place Block Party

The second annual Emory Place Block Party will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm. The event has been organized to help bring attention to the historic Emory Place area. The goal of the block party is to create an opportunity for locals to get out and meet one another while experiencing what the area has to offer. The event is free to the public and everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
The 2016 Emory Place Block Party will have a more music centered focus with multiple acts preforming at various venues around Emory Place. All of the acts are Knoxville locals and the music is sure to please with a range including reggae, folk, indie-rock, jazz and more. A full line up, including performances by local dance groups, will be released in the coming weeks.
The block party promises to be a fun filled afternoon with activities and entertainment for the whole family!

Knoxville Writers' Guild: Book Marketing Workshop with Caitlin Hamilton Summie

Publishing marketer Caitlin Hamilton Summie will lead a KWG sponsored workshop, "Marketing for Small Press Authors and the Self-Published," on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 1-3 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church.
Hamilton Summie will speak to writers about the basics of creating a marketing plan for their works. Other topics will include assessing resources, developing an elevator pitch, considering sales and distribution issues, and more.
The church is located at 201 E. Third Ave. Attendees should enter off of the large parking lot behind the church. Free and accessible parking is available.
Cost of the workshop is $50, with members receiving a 40 percent discount and student members a 50 percent discount. The 2016 East Tennessee History Fair will celebrate the region’s history with reenactments, activities, and tours. Presented by the East Tennessee Historical Society, along with dozens of businesses, historical organizations, museums, musicians, and individuals from across the region, the East Tennessee History Fair features fun and educational activities highlighting the people, places, stories, and events that comprise the shared history of our 35-county region. Free admission to the Museum of East Tennessee History for the day, including Voices of the Land: The People of East Tennessee and Come to Make Records: Knoxville’s Contributions to American Popular Music exhibitions, plus the Streetscape with Streetcar 409 and Corner Drug Store, c. 1920-1930
Antiques Fair—downtown Knoxville’s only antiques fair with 20 vendors selling a wide variety of primitives, antiques, and tabletop items, sponsored by Case Antiques.
WDVX and Clayton Country Music Stage featuring Russ and Becky Jeffers, Sarah Morgan, Grassroots Gringos, David West and the Cider Mountain Boys, and more.
