Flying Anvil Theatre: Free Holiday Sing-Along

  • December 11, 2020

Category: Free event, Kids, family and Music

Get in the spirit with Flying Anvil Theatre’s free holiday sing-along.

Grab the family and eggnog and gather round the computer/television to sing and celebrate the season! Flying Anvil Theatre’s virtual Caroling Karaoke starts at 7:00 pm, Friday, December 11, hosted by Laura Beth Wells, David Crawford and Paul Jones.

Crawford and Wells are a real-life couple who performed at Flying Anvil Theatre in their cabaret show, A Perfect Match . The pair will lead viewers through a selection of holiday classics and will perform a few solos and duets, accompanied by Jones. Viewers will also get a chance to join in and create a collaborative 12 Days of Christmas , mad-libs style.

Flying Anvil Theatre’s Artistic Director Jayne Morgan says the theatre wanted to offer something fun and interactive for the end of a difficult year. “2020 has been hard on everyone, and we want to thank our audiences who have stuck with us through digital offerings this year. So we’re throwing a virtual party, karaoke style. We’re thrilled to have such wonderful theatre artists to lead the sing-along.”

David Crawford has sung with the Metropolitan Opera in NYC for over 10 years, appearing with opera luminaries such as Placido Domingo, Bryn Terfel and Anna Netrebko. His spouse, Laura Beth Wells, performed locally at Halls Middle School, Oak Ridge Playhouse and the Clarence Brown Theatre before moving to New York. A definite highlight of her career was working with director Julie Taymor songwriters Bono and Edge of U2 while performing in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark on Broadway. Musical Director Paul Jones is a composer/sound designer for film and television. He owns Auralation Studios in South Knoxville, which serves local and regional artists and musicians of all genres, and for the past few years he has been music directing with Knoxville Children’s Theatre ( Shrek, Legally Blonde, Hairspray and other shows).

“Whether you are an accomplished vocalist or a secret in-the-shower pop star, this is a chance to just relax, be silly and sing, something we really need right now,” Morgan says. The event is free, but donations are requested. Viewers can watch on the theatre’s Facebook page or YouTube channel, or by visiting www.flyinganviltheatre.com.

Flying Anvil Theatre’s Caroling Karaoke – Friday, December 11, at 7:00 pm. Call 865-357-1309 for more information.
