Underoath on Tuesday, April 15, 7:00 PM (Doors 6:00 PM) at The Mill & Mine.

UNDEROATH reinvents the balance between chaos and harmony with each successive release. Their compositions, conjured from creative tension, become iconoclastic anthems. Even when the band almost combusts, the crackling energy coalesces into something deeply resonant for millions.

UT Arboretum Society: Exploring the World of Bats

Category: Free event, Lecture, panel, Science, nature and Virtual

“Exploring the World of Bats and How You Can Help!” a Zoom Program Tuesday, April 15 at 7pm EDT

Bats need our help now more than ever. A recent report determined that over 50 per cent of our native bats are considered at risk.
Sponsored by the UT Arboretum Society and Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning, join Bat Conservation International's (BCI) Community Engagement Manager, Erin Cord, as she talks about protecting bats in a Zoom program on Tuesday, April 15 at 7pm EDT. The class is free, but you must register to receive the Zoom link and recording. Register at www.utarboretumsociety.org under Programs. Closed captions are available. Please contact Michelle at mcampani@utk.edu for any questions or registration issues.

Besides adding diversity and flair to local wildlife, our bats consume countless pest insects every single night. Erin will explain the threats they face, and how you can help them in your own backyard. These nocturnal neighbors need our help now more than ever.
Erin joined the BCI staff in 2019, and she is proud to be involved in community engagement work on behalf of the organization. Erin majored in Wildlife Conservation and Entomology at the University of Delaware. She earned her MS in Wildlife Ecology from the Cesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She has over ten years of experience working as a wildlife biologist and running environmentally focused volunteer, outreach, and education programs. Describing her work, she said, “I am happiest working at the intersection of science communication and citizen empowerment. It is so rewarding to work outside and inspire people to get involved with environmental stewardship and wildlife conservation.”

The Forest Resources AgResearch and Education Center celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024. It is one of the ten University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture AgResearch and Education Centers located throughout Tennessee. The Institute of Agriculture also provides instruction, research and public service through the UT Herbert College of Agriculture, the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, UT AgResearch and UT Extension offices, with locations in every county in the state.

Clarence Brown Theatre: The Play That Goes Wrong

Category: Comedy and Theatre

BY JONATHAN SAYER, HENRY SHIELDS, AND HENRY LEWIS

Welcome to the opening night of 'The Murder at Haversham Manor', where things go from not very good to an utter disaster. 'The Play That Goes Wrong' is an ill-fated play-within-a-play, set on the opening night of the Cornley Drama Society’s newest production. The troupe’s ambitious whodunit has everything you never want in a show: falling props, collapsing scenery, an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything…including their lines. Come see why this show has been called “the funniest play Broadway has ever seen!” (Huffington Post)

Film Fest Knox: The Sparrow in the Chimney

Category: Film and Free event

PRESENTED BY VISIT KNOXVILLE AND REGAL
Ramon Zürcher · 2024 · 117 minutes
April 16 · Regal Riviera · 7:00 p.m. · FREE
https://www.facebook.com/events/658257320234629

“Less elusive and more heated than their first two features, this darkly engrossing psychodrama of pent-up domestic tensions should be an arthouse breakthrough for Switzerland’s gifted Zürcher brothers.” – Variety

“A film dipped in venom, often funny and deeply unsettling in how it portrays families who don’t feel the need to hide their vitriol behind pleasantries.” – RogerEbert.com

Karen lives with her husband Markus and their children in her idyllic childhood home. Karen’s sister Jule and her family are visiting for Markus’ birthday. The two women could not be more different. Grim reminders of their deceased mother incite Jule’s rebellion against her domineering sister. As the house gradually fills with life and a sparrow in the chimney seeks a way out to freedom, Karen becomes increasingly tense — until it all comes to a head and the old is destroyed to make room for the new.

The Public Cinema was launched on February 8, 2015 at the Knoxville Museum of Art with a screening of The Strange Little Cat, the debut feature by Ramon Zürcher. To commemorate the tenth anniversary of that event, we’re kicking off Film Fest Knox’s 2025 free screening series with Zürcher’s latest, The Sparrow in the Chimney.
