The Critter Fest will be on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 12-5pm on the campus of Maryville College.
It is a family-oriented and pet-friendly event. We are expecting over 1000
people to attend. There will be kids games, bounce castles, rescue groups
with their adoptable pets, K-9 demonstrations, music, food and lots of fun
for all!

Flying Anvil Theatre, a new professional non-profit theatre founded by Jayne Morgan and Staci Swedeen will present Pardon Me For Living: A Biting Comedy written by Ms Swedeen for two performances on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Knoxville.

In 2003, Swedeen was coming home from running errands when she was bitten by a rabid raccoon in front of her Sleepy Hollow New York home. She captures the event and its aftermath with comedic flair in “Pardon Me for Living,” her one-woman show on stage for two special performances.

Tickets are now on sale for both performances. The Saturday performance is a fundraiser for the theatre at the East Tennessee Historical Society, 601 Gay Street. The show starts at 7:30, with a gala reception to follow. Tickets for this special benefit performance are $35.00. The Sunday matinee starts at 2:00 at the Knoxville Museum of Art and tickets are $22.00.

The Knoxville Museum of Art presents Streetwise: Masters of 1960s Photography May 4-August 5, 2012.

This exhibition highlights the work of a group of eight American photographers who focused their lenses on the rapid social and political changes that transformed the nation during the turbulent 1960s. The featured images present a realistic, sometimes dire, view of America surveying the “outlaw culture” of bikers and chain gangs, Boston’s red light district known as the Combat Zone, Black Panthers, the gritty streets and neighborhoods of New York, the politically charged South, and fringe communities and subcultures around the country.

The public is invited to a preview party Thursday, May 3 from 5:30-7:30pm. This event is free and includes a gallery talk and cash bar.

Bliss Home will feature Bill Timm for May First Friday. A reception will be held at Bliss Home, 29 Market Square, from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday May 4th.

Bill Timm is a metal sculptor residing in Knoxville, TN, but is from traces his roots to the steel capital fo the world: Pittsburgh, PA. For ten years, Bill has created abstract and realistic sculptures from found objects. Bill is a self taught abstract and metal fabricator who has received several regional and national awards for his sculptures.

Bill’s art is viewable beginning May 4th and will remain through the end of the month.

Every day, Knox County art teachers devote their time and energy to cultivating creativity and critical skills in their students. For more than a decade, Art Source, the exhibition dedicated solely to Knox County art educators, has given these same teachers an opportunity to nourish and showcase their own artistic talents.

This two man tour de force explores one day in the life of Tuna, Texas, the third smallest town in Texas. Veteran FCP actors, Tom Ireland and John Cherry portray an odd mix of characters, 20 in all, who live in Tuna. Ireland and Cherry must don wigs, hats, dresses, accents and personalities as they quickly morph into the various and quirkly residents of Tuna.
Greater Tuna began as a simple party skit over 25 years ago and has become a cultural phenomenon. This hilarious comedy will make you a Tuna fan forever.

Please join The Art Guild for the 14th Annual Spring Art Show to be held at the Tellico Village Community Church, 130 Chota Center, in Tellico Village, Loudon, TN. The Church is 12.2 miles from Exit 81 of Interstate 75. Take Hwy 321 to Hwy 444, go to Chota Rd and follow the signs. There is a Meet the Artists reception Friday May 4th from 7 to 9pm, featuring more than 200 art works of over 50 artists, live music and refreshments.
