Knoxville Symphony Orchestra: Beethoven Violin Concerto

Part of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra's 2017-2018 Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series, which marks the KSO’s 82nd season and features new Music Director Aram Demirjian.
Join the KSO for a powerful concert of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, Strauss’ Death and Transfiguration, and selections from Tchaikovsky’s Overture-Fantasy from Romeo & Juliet. Knoxville audiences will enjoy these highly romantic tone poems which the KSO has not performed in several years.
Joshua Gersen is currently the Assistant Conductor of the New York Philharmonic, as well as the Music Director of the New York Youth Symphony. He was previously the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Conducting Fellow of the New World Symphony, where he served as the assistant conductor. Paul Huang is a Taiwanese-American violinist and recipient of the prestigious 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant and holds two degrees from The Juilliard School.
Each concert includes a 30-minute pre-concert chat at 6:30 p.m. with conductor and guest artist, allowing an up-close Q&A session, insights and background to the music, composers and more. Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts: Souper Bowl XIII

Enjoy a home-cooked meal with family and friends! Participants get to choose an original hand-crafted bowl – yours to keep! Each bowl is designed and crafted by local artists including Arrowmont instructors, students, staff, volunteers and studio and educational assistants. Each bowl is unique in design, size, shape and color and a treasure to add to any collection. Proceeds benefit United Way of Sevier County.

Art Guild of Tellico Village Meeting

The Art Guild of Tellico Village will have the talented, award winning artist; Charles Brindley as our featured speaker. He has been publicly acknowledged for his works since 1980. His drawings and paintings depict a variety of symbol-laden subjects; including giant deciduous trees, panoramic landscapes, prehistoric ruins, rock formations, architecture and still life. Kabile Bulgarian Folk Ensemble Concert and Dance Party

Sam Houston Schoolhouse: Music on the Grounds

The Historic Sam Houston Schoolhouse will hold its fall Music on the Grounds at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 16, with Pistol Creek Catch of the Day, a popular band that combines a song list of Americana, swing and rockabilly. The event takes place in Raven Hall at the historic site, located at 3650 Old Sam Houston School Road in Maryville. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Suggested donation of $5 for those age 10 and up. Beans, cornbread and a soft drink will be available for purchase beginning at 6:00 p.m. For more information, call 983-1550.

Modern Studio: The Domino Ensemble "Purple Ego"

The Domino Ensemble reprises their "Purple Ego" show at Modern Studio on November 16 at 7 PM. Featuring new music by Jon Hamar (bass), Keith Brown (drums), Mark Boling (guitar) and Jorge Variego (clarinet and compositions).

UT Arboretum Society: Brunch and Learn: Seasonal Designs from Your Garden

Join us at the UT Arboretum Auditorium on Thursday, November 16th for a light brunch from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. and demonstration on how to make wreaths and seasonal centerpieces using materials from your garden. We will look at ways to use magnolia, holly, nandina and many other garden plants in lovely seasonal and holiday arrangements.
Michelle Campanis, UT Arboretum Education Program Coordinator, will teach this session from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Michelle has been a floral designer for over 20 years and loves to incorporate her love of nature into arrangements. The UT Arboretum is located at 901 S. Illinois Avenue in Oak Ridge. The class fee is $10 and registration is required. The fee includes registration for door prizes- you must be present to win.
