Our sister garden in Jackson showcases fun planters like these regularly, and they have inspired us to share some of that fun with you! We will use shoes as containers for plants. We will teach you how to make them ready to hold water and how to choose the best materials for the plants as well. The Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center is pleased to host the 5th Annual Tennessee Pottery Festival. Featuring a selection of the region's finest potters, this festival offers the opportunity to view and purchase different styles of pottery and other clay goods. Clay Art connoisseurs and novices are invited to enjoy the pieces displayed onsite at the Heritage Center. This is a perfect time to learn from and discuss different styles and forms of pottery with the expert potters. The Tennessee Pottery Festival is a unique opportunity to find the right piece of custom clay art for your home. Whether it is for decoration or function, this festival will have something for everyone at a wide range of prices.

Emily Burgess is this year's featured artist. A native of Maryville, Emily has a love for bright colors and botanical themes. You will enjoy talking with Emily to learn more about her inspiration and the specific work she has produced.

Join the fun while experiencing America’s game as it was played in 1864. The Knoxville Holstons take on the Emmett's Machinists, May 8, 2:00 PM! Don't forget your lawn chair and umbrella for shade! This free public event is enjoying its 8th season and Historic Ramsey House is proud to be a part of this historic reenactment. The players play by 1864 rules, wear period uniforms and our local Knoxville teams bear the names of actual teams that existed in Knoxville during that time. The Knoxville Holstons and Emmett’s Machinists play other vintage league teams from around the state. The league has been in existence for 7 years and has grown from two teams to 12! New This Year! On each game day, we will have a themed kids craft and game area available! Crafts will be only $5 per child, and the game area is free! This week’s theme is Mother’s Day! Tom and Sally Neckvatal are the Art Guild’s Featured Artists for May. They will be honored at the Fun and Wine Reception on Friday, May 7, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the Plateau Creative Arts Center located at 451 Lakeview Drive in Fairfield Glade. Attendees should wear masks and practice social distancing. Wine will be served. This event is free & open to the public.

In addition, the artwork from Crossville graduating high school seniors will be on display in the gallery. This exhibit was featured at the Art Circle Library during the months of March and April, and the public had the opportunity to vote for their favorite artwork. The winning entries will be on display at the Art Center during the month of May, and the artists will be honored during the reception.

Nelson Ziegler, Wood Turning
Nelson Ziegler, of Sevierville, Tennessee in the Smoky Mountains, is a graduate of The Art Institute of Boston and Northwestern Academy of Watercolor. He has won many awards for both his painting and woodturning, both regionally and nationally. Among them, Gold Medal for watercolor at the American Artists Professional League, Honorable Mention-The Artist’s Magazine annual competition. He was chosen the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage artist of the year in 2016. He has participated in numerous juried exhibitions in New York, including Allied Artists, American Artists Professional League, Salmagundi Club, Knickerbocker National Watercolor Exhibition, Faces of America, Academic Artists Association, Springfield Arts League, Springfield, MA, Guild of Boston Artists, Copley Society, Moston, MA, North Shore Arts Association, Gloucester, MA, Tennessee Watercolor Society and Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts.

Dennis Sabo lives in Loudon, Tennessee and specializes in contemporary abstract, landscape, and seascape photography. His photographic fine art can be found in many private collections as well as those within the healthcare and corporate industries. His photographic artwork is available in open, limited and original edition series. Dennis’s photography has been included in solo and group art gallery exhibitions and commercial installations throughout the world. Recently one of his Photographic Metal Prints that sold at the Art Market Gallery went to its new home in Brazil. In 2020, he received the Healing Power of Art excellence award from Manhattan Art International, New York, New York. Continuing his New York accolades, Dennis’s work was recently included in the 2020 William Vale, Brooklyn, New York- August 2020 permanent art collection.
