Unfiltered: From Scars to Beauty
April 30 from 2 - 5 p.m.
Pellissippi State Community College Magnolia Avenue Campus
After much communication with youth and young adults that have been suffering with mental health concerns, depression, and suicidality, there is a common theme of feeling unheard and dismissed. The purpose of this event is to provide a platform for youth to display their hidden emotions through art. Expect to be amazed at the creativity of our young adults but also prepared to get a glimpse into the mental health struggles they experience.
If you are a STUDENT, click the SUBMISSION GUIDELINES below to learn how to submit your art for the show on April 30. If you are a COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION that is interested in partnering on this event, click the COMMUNITY PARTNER GUIDELINES below to learn more about partnering with us.

Spark: E-Cycling Event
Category: Festivals, special events and Free event
Sat Apr 30, 10 AM – 2 PM: Your Old Electronics Can Help Spark Change Lives
Do you have old laptop or desktop computers, monitors, tablets or other electronic devices sitting around gathering digital dust? Here’s a chance to put them to good use! Spark, an East Tennessee nonprofit organization that provides technology access for people with disabilities, has teamed up with Scott Recycling of Knoxville for an e-cycling event. A portion of all of the computers and tablets donated will be wiped clean and have new operating systems installed and will then be provided at no cost to members of our community with disabilities. The event will take place at Scott Recycling, 5049 S. National Dr. in East Knox County. At the same event, Scott will also accept electronic equipment including printers, scanners, fax machines, video game systems, wires and cables, and small household appliances. “This is a great opportunity for people to clear out their technological clutter and provide assistance to people with disabilities. For the families we serve, having a reliable and accessible laptop, desktop or tablet can be a digital lifeline,” said Mary Thom Adams, executive director of Spark. Spark was founded in 1988 as the East Tennessee Special Technology Access Center by a group of parents, business people, service providers and members of the disability advocacy community who held an uncommon belief in the power of technology to help people with disabilities reach their goals. Over the years, the organization has provided a wide range of assistive technology services to thousands of people with disabilities throughout East Tennessee. People with disabilities interested in receiving one of the donated, repurposed devices can contact Spark at 865-219-0130. www.sparktn.org
