The 2023 Induction will mark the 24th Class of Inductees to be honored by the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, which held its grand opening and inaugural induction in 1999.

The members for the Class of 2023 are: Cathy Boswell (Veteran Player), Donna Lopiano (Contributor), Lisa Mattingly (Official), Carolyn Peck (Coach), and Lindsay Whalen (Player). In addition to the announcement of the Class of 2023, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame announced its recipient for the Trailblazers of the Game Award and its recipient of the For the Love of the Game Award. The 2023 Trailblazer of the Game recipient is the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The 2023 For the Love of the Game Award goes to the Dust Bowl Girls.

The Resonant Rogues’ dark Appalachian folk paints a picture of their lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina and on the road. Anchored by the songwriting duo of Sparrow (banjo, accordion) and Keith Josiah Smith (guitar), they’ve traveled the byways and highways of America and crossed the oceans with instruments in tow. From riding freight trains to building their own homestead, the pair are no strangers to blazing unconventional trails. At once rooted and adventurous, each song tells a story of real experiences, friendships, and challenges. The Rogues just wrapped up a record in Nashville with renowned producer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff).

This event is a fundraiser for c.1792 Blount Mansion, Knox County’s oldest operating museum and sole National Historic Landmark.

Make It Happen Arts and Music Festival takes place at Crafty Bastard Brewery, an indoor/outdoor venue that welcomes attendees to enjoy a day full of artistic expression. Featuring live music, food, drinks from Crafty Bastard, and creative crafts from local vendors, this festival is a celebration of Knoxville's diverse and unique culture.

We are so excited to announce our upcoming live event on Saturday April 29th benefitting Conservation Fisheries! We will be closing down our whole property to set up for a live outdoor show on the patio, with ticket sales benefitting our neighbors at Conservation Fisheries!

Conservation Fisheries, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of aquatic biodiversity in our rivers and streams. In our efforts, we have propagated more than 75 non-game fish species, including some of the most imperiled species in the southeastern United States. Whether we’re supporting fish populations that are in decline or propagating fish for other facilities, we’re the leaders in propagating rare and difficult-to-collect species.

Bluegrass fans, mark your calendars! The East Tennessee Bluegrass Association is bringing you an afternoon of free bluegrass, featuring bands from four area colleges.

The College Bluegrass Showcase will be held 1-5 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the courtyard of Pellissippi State Community College’s Hardin Valley Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road, Knoxville.

The show, which is free and open to the public, will feature
• Pellissippi State’s Hardin Valley Thunder (pictured above)
• University of Tennessee’s Lawnmower
• Roane State Community College’s Bluegrass Ensemble
• East Tennessee State University’s Bluegrass Band
• UT’s Sarah and the Shrimp Shack Shooters

“The East Tennessee region has such a rich tradition of bluegrass,” said Evie Andrus, president of the East Tennessee Bluegrass Association and host of “Taps and Tunes on the Corner” on WDVX. “We at the ETNBA are excited to showcase the next generations of pickers.”

The Showcase will be held on an outdoor stage and folding chairs will be provided, but feel free to bring your own chairs if you wish. Food trucks and a concession stand will be on hand, and the East Tennessee Bluegrass Association has a rain plan in place in case of inclement weather.

Knoxville Opera is proud to present a production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's classic opera, The Marriage of Figaro, on April 28 & 30 at the Bijou Theatre in Downtown Knoxville. This production features an all-star cast of world-class opera singers and musicians, led by the first ever female conductor at Knoxville Opera, Laurie Rogers, and directed by Eve Summer.

The cast includes baritone Nicholas Davis in the role of Figaro, soprano Flora Hawk as Susanna, bass-baritone Richard Ollarsaba as Count Almaviva, and soprano Bizhou Chang as Countess Almaviva. The supporting cast includes Zizhao Wang as Bartolo, Lisa Chavez as Marcellina, Jason Ferrante as Basilio/Curzio, Eliza Bonet as Cherubino, Teyah Young as Barbarina, and Jacob Lay as Antonio.

The Marriage of Figaro is a comic opera that tells the story of Figaro, a servant preparing to marry his fiancée Susanna, and the complications that arise when Count Almaviva tries to seduce her. The production promises to be a delightful blend of comedy, romance, and vocal virtuosity, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Bijou Theatre.

Performances will take place on Friday, April 28 at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 30 at 2:30pm.

The Art Guild of Tellico Village's annual show will be held on April 28, 29 & 30, 2023.
Fri 10-6 (opening reception 4-6 PM), Sat 10-5, Sun 10-4.

Presented at the Community Church at Tellico Village in Loudon TN, this acclaimed display showcases more than 250 pieces of art, highlighting the exceptional and varied talents of Art Guild members.

The Art Show offers a wide variety of subjects, styles and media, in both 2- and 3- dimensional works. Watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, inks, graphite, colored pencil, scratchboard, photography, gourds, wood carving, jewelry, ceramics, fiber art, sculpture, weavings, fused glass, stained glass, collage and mixed media will be featured. Much of the artwork will be for sale. Throughout the 3-day Art Show guests are invited to watch and learn from “Artists at Work.” Over a dozen member artists will demonstrate various media while sharing their inspirations, techniques, tips, materials and more. The public is also invited to vote for Peoples’ Choice Awards, to be announced at the end of the show. Jerry’s Artarama of Knoxville, which sells an extensive selection of fine art supplies, will be awarding a total of $500 in gift certificates to the chosen winners.

Visitors will be treated to live music each day of the show. Food trucks will be on site each day of the show. On Friday, Noodles North will be serving from 11am to 6pm. On Saturday and Sunday, Blazing Flames will be on site from 10am to 4pm, and they have added muffins and biscuits to their menu choices for Art Show visitors.

Established in 1961, the Dogwood Arts Festival is one of the most celebrated cultural events in Knoxville! The festival is held at World’s Fair Park in Knoxville, TN and features over 100 fine art vendors, live music, entertainment, children's activities, food & beverage vendors, and more.

100 Artists will be selected by an internal jury to participate this year!
