The Guild of the Knoxville Museum of Art presents Artists on Location 2023, an art show and sale, from 5:30 to 9pm Saturday, April 22 at the Knoxville Museum of Art. Artists on Location promotes the museum’s connection to the local and regional art community and provides both new and seasoned collectors a rare opportunity to buy original paintings of Knoxville and East Tennessee.
From Sunday, April 16 through Friday, April 21, talented artists selected through a rigorous juried process will be painting outdoors in and around the Knoxville area. The public is invited to watch AOL’s artists in action as they capture on canvas a wide variety of subject matter, from urban street scenes to pastoral garden settings. The artists’ specific locations will be published on the KMA website www.knoxart.org prior to the event and will be followed on the KMA Guild’s Instagram page @artistsonlocation.
The paintings produced will be sold from 5:30 to 9pm on Saturday, April 22 at the Knoxville Museum of Art. Proceeds of the sale will benefit both participating artists and the Knoxville Museum of Art. Artists on Location is organized by the Guild of the Knoxville Museum of Art.

Knoxville Opera: Rossini Festival
Category: Culinary arts, food, Dance, movement, Exhibitions, visual art, Festivals, special events, Fine Crafts, Free event, Kids, family, Music and Theatre
The Rossini Festival is Knoxville Opera's annual International Street Fair that celebrates the global impact on the music, food, art, and culture of East Tennessee. Now in its 20th year, with a new emphasis on international influences and with even more vendors and entertainment, this year’s Rossini Festival 2023 will be even bigger and better than ever.
Fun and family-oriented. Admission is always free.
Four stages offer eleven hours of non-stop choral, opera, jazz, instrumental, gospel, chamber, dance, and ethnic artistic performances. You are sure to experience something new at every turn. Hundreds of artisans from all over East Tennessee gather to show off and sell their wares. From booths scattered all over the festival footprint, you will find clothing, jewelry, and home items--all handmade in our region. From Tacos to Greek specialties to your favorite adult beverages, Rossini Festival Food and Beverage Vendors offer a plethora of local and international cuisine. With this many possibilities, everyone can get what they want! Some artists, grouped together on Artisans’ Row, will demonstrate the HOW behind the WHAT by showing visitors the process behind their crafts. Wood carving, leatherworking, and weaving are just a few of their endeavors you can witness in action during your Rossini Festival visit.
Kids can jump, bounce, and flip at the YMCA Fun Zone. A perennial favorite, the Y Fun Zone has been relocated this year to offer more space and more FUN! New this year, your child can follow the virtual map and find flags from various countries all around downtown Knoxville. Can you “collect” all the
flags for a special surprise?
The Rossini Festival is recognized as one of East Tennessee’s most popular events, the largest of its kind in the local area, and the only such free-admission community event presented by an opera company in the U.S. Designated a “legacy event” by former Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero, this unique gathering transforms parts of downtown Gay St., Market St., Market Square, and the adjoining streets into a European-style pedestrian street mall. Over the course of 11 hours, the public is treated to non-stop entertainment on four outdoor stages showcasing opera, classical, jazz, gospel, and ethnic music; ballet, modern, and ethnic dance. Attendees can purchase from scores of food vendors and more than 75 artisans throughout the day, while The Y FunZone keeps children entertained. More than half a million residents of Knox County and the surrounding area have enjoyed the Rossini Festival over the years. With free admission for all, the Street Fair is largely dependent upon sponsor support for its funding and success.
